Paying money for the Obsidian, Good or Bad?

(DB Genome editor) #41

Since I don’t care for Aimee, $15 for an unknown skin applied to an unknown loadout of an unknown merc is too much gamble for me.

Urm…you mean $360?
[/quote]
$360 was for the top package, with a bunch of physical goodies like a hoodie and a beanie, signed poster, art book, etc… The complete set of 5 Founders was available starting at the $120 level, 3 of you choice with the $60 package and 1 with the $30 one.

I couldn’t disagree more re: the comment about obsidians should only be for people who have been around for a long time. That literally makes no sense at all. The amount of players I see with obsidian and beta cards who are only level 15-20 is silly. If they were to do something like that it should be based on people who play and support the game the most, not the people who have been around the longest.

But like Ardez said any way, the founders cards were all paid for, they weren’t just given out.

Re: Buying Aimee, it’s kind of necessary. The game needs to make money some how. I honestly get so sick of hearing people piss and moan non stop about things wrong with the game, slow development and lack of content etc yet don’t put a single cent into the game. They want the game for free and make the highest demands for more free stuff to be given out and do nothing but complain when things don’t go their way

My only pickle is what the obsidian card is. If it’s a PDP loadout I can guarantee I will never use it, I just don’t like snipers in this game. Grandeur for life <3

I was going to vote and post my opinion, but I realized I don’t have all of the information…which exactly does one get for their $15 dollars?

Ya, I meant the VIP Founders, some bought in at $360 but most were invited, we don’t get the digital stuff(art book etc) until release if that ever happens

Its a good idea but poorly executed. It should not be bundled with the merc. For anybody with the credits you are essentially spending $15 USD on a single loadout card. Personally, I do not have that kinda cash to drop on such a trivial, singular, item.

I totally would have bought it if they charged say $5, which appears to be the cost if you subtract the 10.99 for aimee.

(ImSploosh) #46

Where do you see a pack of Obsidians for $15? People get all of this information, but I never see it. No forum posts or anything on Steam. I’m guessing just Twitter?

(FerfyDerf) #47

Yeah, twitter. Also, seems to be just one card.

(Cletus_VanDamme) #48

$15 is chump change, glad to see SD finally listening to the community.

Also good to see people getting a free event case when they purchase a 5 pack of elites, gee I wonder who thought of that great idea

If you can’t afford $15 and you’re salty that you’re not getting premium cosmetics in a free to play game then you need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

It’s a F2P game FFS. They need to make money somehow. If $15 is going to send you into poverty then you’ve got bigger issues than missing out on an obsidian card.

Get a job, mow a lawn, there’s a million ways to make a quick buck.

It’s 15$ for a RANDOM card for a merc which is decided by the community. So it’s not even guaranteed to be a merc you like, a merc you play often, or even a good merc period. And even if it is, it’s still a 1/9 chance to get the perfect card for them. Knowing public it’ll be Proxy or Vas, good fun.

Now, where it gets worse, is that they tied it to Aimee. You HAVE to buy the card and Aimee. You can’t spend your 50k on Aimee and then get the card later, you HAVE to buy the bundle to get the card. If it was 10$ this wouldn’t be as bad, or if you could buy the card alone for 5$ it wouldn’t be bad. But 15$ is pretty extravagant for what will be a random merc’s reskin.

I can’t justify buying this, at all. It’s a good idea but the cost and the sheer randomness of it makes it awful, and that they tied it to their newest addition is horrible, people who haven’t made their mind up on if they want the Obsidian but know they want to play Aimee are faced with an issue where they have to either hold off on playing Aimee while they decide, or they buy Aimee and then deal out 15$ for a single, random card later. It’s garbage really.

I was shortly tempted to buy it, but without knowing what loadout Aimee will get and not even knowing what merc I would get much less what loadout for him/her…just isn’t worth my money.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the pricing isn’t bad…but this is why I don’t by elite cases…because it’s a gamble and you don’t know what you’ll get.

I plan to purchase the trinket…but the uncertainty of this obsidian pack, I just can’t justify gambling on it…now maybe if they could give a list of what merc would get what loadout beforehand…it would make me consider…but wouldn’t be a guaranteed purchase.

Perhaps the pattern here is that cards with different models from now on will be sold for real money, while the color swap obsidian cards will be given for free for events. It makes sense seeing that the developers will need to actually take the time to create a new model, whereas normal obsidian cards only need a color swap (a color pattern which has already been created, it’s not a new color).

(NetflixandKill) #52

Keep obsidian for the OGs. I’m fine with the 15$ price (they put Aimee in the package on purpose) but I feel like there should be another LE going forward in the place of Obsidian that is just as cool.

(For the record, I am nowhere near an OG. I only have 170~ hrs on my profile and didn’t really start playing until CW. I just think that Obsidians should be a special reward for OGs and DB employees.)

(Borganism) #53

Only expensive because packaged with a merc that is very easy to buy with credits instead of money.

definitely a step the right way though. It will be interesting to see if they just do a skin, or if its a new model as well.

(SereneFlight) #54

cough10% chance to get special loadout card from elite casescough

(Jostabeere) #55

I probably should add this:
I dislike the fact they made it so…costy because of Aimee in the bundle. The card would probably be 5$. I don’t need nor do I want or feel to ever play Aimee besides free-rotation. I would buy the cheaper Obsidian without her though.

(Drac0rion) #56

Well, $10 from that 15 is the merc price and $5 is for obsidian, the rarest rarity + we have never had any random loadouts for obsidian, so far SD has always chosen rather decent loadouts for the obsidian cards.
If we can pay $5 for a specific obsidian, then I’m happy about it, if it really is going to be RNG that everyone has a chance for a different loadout, then sorry, but that’s just dumb in my opinion, as obsidians will never be tradeable and who would want to pay for this fancy obsidian if it ends up being the worst loadout possible that will never be used?

About the event, I was actually hoping SD had set the culprit and the community could narrow down their prime suspect. The story would be more solid with a set culprit in my opinion and we could have had new skins for both, the real culprit and for the prime suspect. Because at the moment Proxy is the most popular merc if I’m correct, but I really wouldn’t want to see her as the culprit…

exactly I also didn’t plan to buy her with cash…rather ingame currency. and the card itself, not sure if worth 15 bucks. Will it be aimee obsidian or else? do we know?

(Runeforce) #58

From my understanding, it’s a predetermined (not sure though) obsidian loadout for the culprit, so you can rule out Aimee, Skyhammer and Aura.

http://dirtybomb.nexon.net/microsite/rogue-en-vogue
“Buy the Vengeance Obsidian pack for US$14.99, containing the Merc Aimee and an Obsidian Culprit Case. This can be unlocked after the event to reveal a one-off Obsidian variant of the Culprit Card.”

(Matuno) #59

Do we know if the Obsidian is going to be one loadout, or pure RNG?
If it’s RNG, then I won’t bother buying it.

EDIT: I mean, can we get that verified in very exact wording that leaves no chance for misinterpretation?

(AnonOmis1000) #60

To my understanding, the obsidian card will be of the culprit.
