Pay to Play

(Dec204) #1

Im having a little trouble understanding how you tell everyone that you dont like the Idea of Pay to Progress games. but from the moment I begin RAD Soldier, Im thrust into the realization that like most App store games, If I want to truly experience the full game, I need to pay a sum of money to buy “Rad Bux” so I can purchase in game characters and weapons costumes etc. Or the alternative which is playing for hundreds of hours grinding slowing to make a few hundred measly coins every time I successfully complete a challenge. Or there is play online 1 painfully slow turn at a time which like an over seas chess game can last forever… I still have 4 matches that have only been started because the other opponents have clearly decided to give up on the game already.

I am not only suggesting and implying that you need to raise the amount of reward given to players for challenges, but also change the online play style from whenever I feel like taking my turn to you start and finish a match in one sitting. not the course of a fortnight. Some may feel like im exaggerating or that I dont fully appreciate the game whatever. But in all mater of fact I love this game and wish it to flourish along with all other future warchest and splash damage titles. I have already put in roughly 16 hours or time and only have 21,000 coins, which is a combination of leveling, challenges, and online play with only 1 Competitor who can finish a match. I have no desire to spend another 8 hours making 8000 more coins to purchase my next character, when I still need to purchase weapons etc.

The tedious amount of time I have to spend playing this is exactly why you have the pay system I know. Ive done this line of work before, but you end up loosing more players then you gain, because interest is lost half way. This game has so much potential, its Team Fortress meets FF Tactics.

Please pay attention to this and increase reward caps. as well as add a campaign why do i have my own squad if i never use them (online exempt) add a regular TDM or Cap the Flag bot gameplay, and even a 3 way match to test divisional skills in combat…

for now I guess thats all, rant over!

Many very good points but I’d disagree with the turn based multiplayer. I really enjoy the asynchronous play and appreciate en epic match that takes several days to complete.

Having said that, I think Playdek have the answer you are looking for in their games. When you setup a game you set a ‘turn timer’. You can set it anywhere from 30 mins to 14 days. So, when it’s your turn that 30 minute timer starts ticking away-dont make your move within 30 minutes and you forefeit.

As for opponents not ‘wanting’ to play-i think it comes down to broken notifications, once they are fixed games will play out better.

Otherwise, I agree with your take on the progression system and the need to increase coins or decrease costs.

well, dec204
I get your point. but i think very differently. and i ( it seems so) like the game exactly for what you do not like it.

I am playing the game since it is out, i had no problem with the first few games, my characters were just fine. yet i HAVE bought 2 more characters, and not only the cheap ones. i am “close” to get my 3rd one.
If i had bought Rad Bax, just for skins. i would not know what to play the game for, if i have everything just from the start.

and it is cool not to nerd around in the game to be “good”. The game needs Skill, people need a brain to think off strategies, and it seems like i am good at that. I look for game-answers all few hours, the Push-notification tells me if someone answered.
If you have the maximum amount of games opened ( against people you know, your friends, family or random) it will NOT take long for them to answer.
I already posted some names of fast-answering guys somewhere else. Yet i play and played vs. them very often and i have 2-8 games to answer each day and i have only 5 opened ( i waited for the tournament, I did not want to be full of games when it starts)

well, i would also like to get more rewards each game but in the end you have a huge amount of coins and nothing to pay for.
it is not like any other games where only people who spend at least half a day online get succesful or get new content/ items /// skills. you MAY spend 1-20 mins each day online to answer games and wait again a day or half a day- and you get a quite good amount of coins. and/ but if you have someone you know, a brother/sister father/mother buddy / “random”-guy … you may spend many hours online and you ( SURELY) get (compared) more coins / faster the rewards. But this does NOT bring those players any further then you. The thing you need is SKILL, you cant buy skill. And you will see that just in the game… some lvl 1-5 guys with Ivan or someone else very expensive and they just cant use them well.
I did buy new characters but ONLY because i changed my build 180° around. But that’s not the thing that wins my games, i won most of them before ( sry if i pose a bit  ) , i just figured another build and i liked it more.

test it yourself (please) play against up to 20 people at the same time, (e.g. me - i answer quite fast) and if both answer fast it is fun and fast coins. there is no need for any pushes yet.

and just as i said somewhere else. if you RAISE the coingain, you need to cut the cost of IAP,
If you buy characters with RAD bux, you will cut down the gametime SO HARD, theres no comparision between the time you would spend ig and the time you would need to work ( at low-payed jobs — even more on well-payed jobs) to get the money…

well, i hope you get my points

with friendly regards

Some may love the game as it is, but I think many will avoid the game just looking the price of IAP. And most of those who played several games will stop playing by the reward cap. The game will attract more people if a player can get 1 or 2 units by finishing the challenges.Building your own squad is one of the most interesting part of the game, but currently you have to finish 20 or more online match to get a single unit. That’s too far.
I love the asynchronous playing, but it would be great if there is another option for quick match in which you can stay in the match till the end.

20 games, YES.
if you HAVE the perfect players ( answer within a maximum of 1h) and you do the same you are done with the game within 1 month, or even earlier ( done~ have all characters)
but you do not need all ( 12 ) characters. I have bought 2 ( with normal coins, no rad bux) withing a week or so and my 12point squad is “done”, i will not change much there ( at the moment). My Squad was just fine at the beginning, with Pete.
The first character you’ll buy will be even earlier due to the 20x120 ( i think it was 20x 120) after each turn ( well, the first 20 turns ).

And that is exactly what I ( and many other people) are looking for.
If you know Clash of Clans ( a very different game) you need SO long to do anything. And this gives a fair amount of money to the Makers of the game (via IAP,) for those who dont want to spend so much time ig.

There will always be haters but i think it is better to do a free app with all content reachable during play, only faster and some “stylistic” stuff through IAP then a payed version.

But this is just my opinion.
