Patch idea: Buff for operatives.

(trollface) #1

Heres the thing, all classes exept for operative have a buff. Kinda unfair in my book.

Remove speed buff of medics, nerf it and make it standard kit buff of operatives. Slight speed upgrade until you die. Would be a favourite of heavies im sure.

Right now it looks like (from watching streams, yes its that obvious) operatives are doing their own thing. Sure that might be the idea, but surely an operative could offer some more concrete and reliable in terms of teamwork.

(tokamak) #2

They have interrogation, information is an implicit buff to the team. And to be honest, operatives are kind of meant to be doing their own thing.

(Linsolv) #3

An Operative is meant to be an X-factor. You can’t necessarily predict how much or even if they will help, but if/when they do it will be in unexpected ways that most likely won’t be in the center of a gunfight.

(Glyph) #4

Why does an Operative need a buff? They can play defensively by firewalling CPs or manually controlling friendly turrets (from anywhere). They can play offensively by hacking enemy turrets, laying caltrops and using EMP grenades. They can play stealth by disguising or offer intel for their team by comms hacking. I really fail to see why the Operative needs a buff ability.

(Kairus) #5

^ I think people complaining about operative right now haven’t explored what the class offers.

(trollface) #6

I brought that up in my post as well. I just don’t see the reason for why they shouldnt have a buff to give like everyone else. Engineers have defensive items, does that mean they should never go on offence? Some variety in playstyle choices would be nice.

(trollface) #7

Because everyone else has one? I thought that was obvious.
^ I think people complaining about operative right now haven’t explored what the class offers.
Yea you could say that, i havent even played the game. During the machinima live broadcast yesterday the issue was brought up.

It’s not like operatives are always alone and would never get the chance to buff anyone. Thats just silly. You guys are just argumenting for its own sake.

(Linsolv) #9

Why SHOULD they have a buff? Symmetry’s sake?

Obvious troll(face) is obvious. Seriously, stop suggesting things to which you have no idea about how they actually work. If you have played the Operative you would realize that a buff would be wasted on a class that is intended to stay on the edges of the conflict. Why give the only class that does not want to be in the middle of the fight a buff ability?

(trollface) #11

I have an idea. I’ve watched enough streams and heard enough comments to make an educated guess. Not that it takes much of a guess to know that the operative doesn’t have a buff.

When it comes to usefullness, that person spawns just like everyone else doesnt he? We’re not talking about a spectator here. I also think i’ve covered that in previous posts.
And since you obviously don’t even bother to read my comments before calling me a troll, i’m going to have to report you for flame baiting.

(tokamak) #12

I’m more concerned with the apparent lack of heavies, if that keeps up then I’d like to see their energy proefficiency back.

(spire8989) #13

I play my team’s operative. Don’t give us a buff. That’s not why I’m playing him.

Play the game and make your own decisions, don’t listen to machinima…

(Coin Op) #14

You make the operative sound fun. I might have to give it a whirl one of these days. :penguin:

(Szakalot) #15

its the beginning and everyone wants to checkout the parkour.

once everyone is light, heavy has more value (with so much more hp should be able to win a random firefight with ease).

A heavy medic seems like an interesting choice: more hp gained by each self-buff; heavy cant go around solo, but that shouldnt matter for the medic, stay on the battlefield longer to revive the quickly dying lights.

(Jess Alon) #16

Tok I play heavy almost exclusively. Just wish I could reload a little faster. A faster reload soldier perk would be nice.

(GreasedScotsman) #17

We’ve had chimPWNzee showcased on Brink TV for the past two nights as a heavy medic being a ridiculously solid asset to his team. People will figure out the advantages and drawbacks in due time… 'til then, it is hilarious in its own right to see this chunky fatass mass waddle up to someone and toss them a revive syringe.
