Own Texture

(simendude) #1

Hello mappers,

I have a question.
How can I add my own texture in Gtk Radiant.

I just made my own picture with paint so I could put it on a brush, saved as png, 128 x 128, Orange background, with text: Map By Inferno, I am using Gtk Radiant 1.4.

But now how can I add that picture to the textures of Radiant?

Pls help.

Greetings simendude.

I think that if you use the search, you will find a lot.

As far as I think, PNG is not a valid ET texture. Try using JPG and TGA format.

Also, you will need to put your textures in a PK3. If you look up some basic mapping tutorials, you’ll find info about this

hmm yes and i also got the JPG file, and i putted it into a PK3 with pakscape,
where to place the pk3? cause i can’t find the dir. that some persons say in google.

add your textures to a folder inside your textures-folder, maybe into textures/test or textures/test2. pk3-packaging is only to do when you want to release your map.

etmain/textures/… ?

(Pegazus) #6

etmain/textures/yourmapname

so for example
etmain/textures/roofs_old and you add your custom textures there. Reload GTK and look up your textures in the list.

ok i got it, thank you.

I was doing that all the time already, I called it: texture 1, instead of texture_1
dumb mistake…

anyways thank you!

No problem, always glad to help

he well… i can get the picture in my textures list, but once i test the map… i only see this black screen, surrounded with orange

(ischbinz) #10

is the texture with “power of 2” ?
btw in the console are there any errors?

(Pande) #11

16x16,32x32,64x64,128x128 <-- if its that as you say it should work.

or 32x128 etc all works. 256x256, 4096x32,

(simendude) #12

I attached a picture of my console

like you said ischbinz, it doesn’t has got the power of 2, how to change? and what does it means?

and these shaders, i dont think they are important… not needed

(Pegazus) #13

Power of 2 like pande explained, is the image size. It has to be in power of 2 (the image size) 16x16 32x32 64x64 128x128 256x256 and so on.

(Pegazus) #15

Ah yes, my bad forgot to add that part in
:o

(Pande) #16

just so you know, 2x2, 4x4, and 8x8 do not work.

(simendude) #17

ok, its working, i checked the picture again, and it had a wrong resolution (oops :o :D)

but ok thank you all for explaining
