Overkill

Do you think there should be an element of overkill resulting in an instant gib? In RtCW, if you took a decent blast from a nade but you were already low on health, that would send you straight to the respawn queue. I was playing tonight and threw a nade, the player killed me so the debug showed me had 3 HP, he then got killed by my nade but was then revived by his team mate. I think with very low HP and massive impact, that should be an instant gib.

Totally agree, where are the gibs? Nothing better than watching an airstrike throw limbs all over the place.

It’s been a part of SD’s previous games, so you don’t have to pursade me.

No but it should result in making the ragdoll fly very far.

I definitely think if there’s an explosion or a significant amount of damage done to a player who’s already low on health that results in them getting like -75 hp or so, then they should be gibbed as well.

It’s a little tough though for whatever the -amount is… since I don’t think it’d be right for players to be overkilled as they’re falling by bullets. Althoug who knows, maybe they should. I’m on the fence with that in particular.

But to clarify - explosions etc on critically low health players should send them back to respawn.

Gets my vote

Flying ragdolls FTW!

Mr Ed has actually been working on putting more push on explosion ragdolls, right now I think only a few directional anims are playing

Aw, I thought this thread was about this: http://youtu.be/yOJvtulmEZI

Bringing this back to life - if this mechanic exists already, it seems way too rare.

More than a few times lately I’ve hit somebody dead on with a grenade who was at low health, and they were able to be raised immediately. The same goes for anyone running over landmines, especially when standing directly on top of them (eg in a plant/repair location).

They need to be instant-gibbed in these situations.

I like your taste in music sir!

I liked how in W:ET the landmine and noob tube splatter effect gave you a chance to still look around as your upper body tore off and flew in the other direction from the rest of you… before it threw you to that disembodied tap out view, or spec’ing other live players.
