Im with the - its been done before to various degrees crowd.
I do value the approach though, because its different to what’s out there atm.
Overhyping singleplayer?
“The game that converted me from a singleplayer only gamer into a dieahard multiplayer enthusiast, BRINK, five out of five stars!” (or whatever he uses to rate games as I’ve never heard of this guy, probably since I rarely play single player games outside of strategy games).
Let me gently link you to this page: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation
From the recent ones Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Mafia 2 are pretty good if I remember correctly. It’s all in good humour with a bit of language.
Having played the games is not necessary.

ohh, OK, that guy. I’ve seen just one previous review but of course it was memerable, I thought it was a one time thing from some random guy on the net. Lots of talent on the net mixed in with all the chaff.
I agree with this. I (like many others here) will buy brink for the multiplayer, but some will only want to play solo. I would say L4D helps here because people will have already seen a singleplayer experience told through a cooperative / multiplayer method (or vice versa).
The biggest issue is that in most singleplayer games the world revolves around you, a multiplayer game with bots isnt really like this. I think the success of the singleplayer will be a combination of the bot AI and how well the cut scenes drive the story along.
Definitely… and from what all (but 1) reviews who have mentioned AI, they’ve said it was great.
And the cut scenes are at the start of every mission so they should push the story well.
