Overground Defense

(CCP115) #1

I dunno bout you guys, but I find defending on Overground to be incredibly hard. I was playing a fairly stacked match to my team, as such attacking was incredibly easy, and we swept up the first 6 rounds with a loss or two. But defense? Loss after loss. It’s seems so incredibly hard, as the attackers can freely rotate over to B from peeking at A for a bit of a mess with your head. Also the really open B site doesn’t help much. All it takes is one sneaky Proxy to go to B and the whole match is over.

Compared to Market, which has always felt much more fair. I don’t know why. Also the new Market changes make me feel weird, I have to get used to those.

Anybody else feel this way?

I have a hard time getting anything done on both sides, I’m not a very careful player and there are so many angles you are exposed to anywhere you go. In that respect I think it’s very much in favour of the defenders especially since they get a lot of barred windows that make it very hard to kill people inside even with spam. Like you said though, a proxy or any other merc can easily get behind all of the defenders with there being so many different routes and plant which tends to make everyone panic and run to the objective with a very chaotic finish.

I understand what you mean. The bomb sites are positioned awkwardly for the defending team to be able constantly defend both. However, I think that the map would probably need a complete redo if they were to change the position of the bomb sites

This is why it’s so useful to use Bushwhacker’s turrets and Vassili’s motion sensors - they can alert you to potential rotations by the enemy team. This is actually the one of the best uses of Bushwhacker in competitive - put the turret down watching your back and it will a) tell you and enemy is behind you and b) damage that enemy a little and c) possibly make them reload their gun which might give you a chance to jump them while they aren’t ready to shoot back.

Attackers can cross that arch into red warehouse adjacent to B too easily.

Making that crossing slightly harder would balance that side better imo.

Red warehouse’s control over mid trains also makes it harder for defenders on retake.

  1. Attackers can cross into B easily
  2. Attackers can control Defenders rotating back for a retake

A bomb site feels fun as it is. B favours attackers too much the moment they have it.

You have a map understanding far above whatever I have, so I’m just gonna agree with you.
