Our characters in cutscenes

(Schwarzeis) #21

Hooh… Don’t like the sound of that :stuck_out_tongue:

Not at all :frowning:
Hooh… Don’t like the sound of that :stuck_out_tongue:

I think Badman has to review all posts before they go up from SD Staff… so if Badman isn’t around then they don’t get posted.

(Schwarzeis) #23

Really? :s

Aight, then we’ll just have to wait for badman to mark it as ‘‘good for public viewing’’

… Unless he already marked it for… Death

(trigg3r) #24
Might be that they sometimes wait for confirmation if they are allowed to make certain information public?

Or it’s just a bug but I think whenever this symbol was there sooner or later there was a dev post.
the first one i think

(Herandar) #25

Yes. I’ve been avoiding answering this thread specifically because I explicitly answered all of your questions on another thread a month and half or so ago. They have recorded every line of dialogue in every voice specifically so that your avatar and your teammate’s avatars can replace the default stock characters in each cutscene. There are some characters that are NPCs, and no one will replace them (Brother Chen, and whoever the ArkSec leader is, I’ve forgotten his name). Sometimes you might not be in a speaking role, but the cutscenes that occur just before, within and right after battles will most likely only show the avatars that will be in the battle.

SD posts are definitely reviewed before they are cleared for public view.

Hm, I must’ve forgotten about that… But now that you say it, I do remember I did create a thread similiar to this one a long time ago…

Thanks for freshening up my memory, Herandar

I just hope they are keeping to this then and that they haven’t changed it due to memory and shipping deadline… :l

(example: XP transfering was cut)

Also… Brother Chen (Resistance) and Commander Chen (Security)? :stuck_out_tongue:

(Herandar) #27

No. The “Brother” is figurative, not literal.

(Whydmer) #28

Captain Mokoena’s Security not Commander Chen

(IceBrazuca) #29

Oh this is how I thought it worked:
The silent characters in the cut scenes would be the players and bots.

The characters that spoke were specific bots for that level.
(They would only appear on cut scenes if the team was already filled with players)

(trigg3r) #30

in case anyone missed it
Some time ago someone on here or the Bethesda forum said that our characters wont say squat in the cutscenes, both online and offline, and I have yet to receive some official info on this matter

Sure they maybe said they would a long time ago, but things that was planned before change as you can see

Eh, hopefully Exedore can come and answer this
personally, i couldn’t care less about what my character does in the cutscenes, i’ll probably just watch them the first time i play and then just skip them.

(Herandar) #31

Wait, so the player’s avatars won’t say anything in any cutscenes then? Really starting to wish SD posts would show up sooner.

(thelurker) #32

Devs have major lag when they make posts on their own forums :P. I believe one of them mentioned it specifically as a forum bug. I can see it now as the #11 post on this page

(Schwarzeis) #33

So online we wont have our team mates characters do the talking either?

Sorry if you’ve already answered this in a really sublimal way that I can’t see :o

(Ragoo) #34

Hm I don’t understand why it was so hard to make our characters speak in cut scenes. But it’s not as important as gameplay so I won’t complain^^

(Shadowcat) #35

I assume its the fact that they would have to record all of the voice acting for all of the different accents, which would take more time as well increase the filesize of the game.

(Schwarzeis) #36

I thought they had done this?

(Herandar) #37

They HAD already done this. Paul mentioned it specifically in interviews. The one where he got the WWE wrestling belt I specifically remember. I agree that it isn’t important, but sheesh… We’re starting to approach Molyneux levels of features annouced and promoted that have been cut. [GRUMBLE]

Can you also imagine:

5 people’s characters in the cutscene talk. By coincidence all 5 people chose the same voice. Now every time one of the characters speaks it sounds like the same guy. No thanks, give me NPCs with specific voices talking only thanks

Haha, okay I didn’t even think about this

Still waiting for badman or maybe Exedore to pop in here and answer our question(s) :stuck_out_tongue:
