Orly or Typo?

Boy, that looks pretty official to me, seeing as how it is the Bethesda site!

Sounds like it is a done deal, and that date is probably just as flexible as all the dates they have given us up until now. They will be going up against Gears of War 3 on the 360, to name just one game. Then again, if they released it this fall, they would be going up against Halo:Reach (laul).

Well, I meant it when I wrote a while back that I would rather they take their time and delay the game, than that they release it half-baked. No wonder they have been tighter than a frog’s ass in releasing any new info. They have to stretch their media and announcements out over a whole year, yet.

Good decision. Really disappointing from a gaming this fall point of view. I ain’t buyin’ Halo. LOL I guess I will just have to ride EA and get them to fix their servers so I can play more BF:BC2 until next spring.

I don’t understand how in an interview literally a week ago they could still be quoted with something like “shooting for a fall 2010 release on all three platforms” to a scant 7 days later having a TBD Spring 2011 date. Why even comment on release date if you are that close to changing it off by two seasons?

A simple “We aren’t going to speculate on a release window yet” and noone gets their hopes up, only to have games pushed back repeatedly. It is my single biggest pet peeve, commenting on release windows before they are actually firm, it jerks fans around needlessly.

(0xT1) #23

was it to a dev or a publisher? the publisher is who makes the calls

Right now, we’re shooting for Fall 2010 release for all three platforms.”

Not to arsed to be honest,

Maybe now then can add a proper weapon bank for proper grenades as well turning VOIP on by defualt for the PC.

(tokamak) #25

Now let’s hope it shows up before the flood.

(Wolfmeister) #26

awww ffs! :frowning:

(Diablo85) #27

On the one hand it’s a good move, since this fall it would have very strong competition. On the other hand by then I will playing Guild Wars 2, so guess no BRINK for me. :frowning:

its “official”: http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/109/1098064p1.html

…meh =[

(tokamak) #29

So does this mean just the consoles are delayed?

(0xT1) #30

yeah, just read that tidbit: "Brink is set to launch in the spring of 2011 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. "

If they’re doing simultaneous development it seems odd that they would only delay some of them, heck, bioware even delayed dragon age on PC so it would release at the same time as the console versions.

Hopefully PC is just gonna be an unofficial beta until they polish it for consoles .

(Bananas) #32

I died a little inside when I saw the article, but I tried to keep my hopes up when I saw the part about only consoles. If PC is delayed, I expect mass suicides.

(H0RSE) #33

maybe they didn’t mention PC because they scrapped it, lol.

(0xT1) #34

thats basically my worst fear, it actually crossed my mind when I read it but didnt believe that SD was capable of pulling an IW on us

(SockDog) #35

It’s disappointing to get dates that shift, not sure why Bethesda keeps insisting on dating stuff. I don’t begrudge SD taking their time though, they’re a relatively small team doing three versions and clearly want to make a great game. “When it’s done” guys!

I wonder if Bethesda wants some Move/Kinect support in there?

(BioSnark) #36

A full year. Initial release date was this spring.

(Jamieson) #37

Believe me they are, compare ET or even ETQW to Brink and you will see just how much they changed to make Brink more friendly to new players and to the consoles effectively crapping on their existing fanbase. I mean seriously are then ever making a PC version of the game?

List of features to prove that Brink is aimed at consoles.

SMART system - bye bye trick jumping
Persistent Ranks - rewards time played not skill, great so now we are playing an MMO
Achievements another gimmick
Crappy grenades and 1 button does all system, did you see Wolfenstein? it was terrible… another console feature.

VOIP off by defualt, great for consoles but seriously who was in that meeting? were the guys working on the PC versione even there? no serious PC gamer would go yeah thats a great idea… because its f.u.c.k.i.n.g retarded.

Steam just another step to systems like Xbox live etc and monopilies terrible idea.
Me: I want to play Brink
Steam - No sorry our servers are busy.
Me: yeah but its my game!
Steam: we don’t care and there is nothing you can do about it.
don’t even get me started on VAC and the terrible way the rank system is going to be implemented.

I’m glad its delayed, maybe SD can have a good look at themselves and realise what they are doing. The reality is though that they probably have, what do you get, Sellouts $$$$$$. Nice way to thank the people that supported you over the last 7 years, its got IW written all over it.

Seriously I’m expecting “its not balaced for lean” and options like “you can customise your graphic and mouse settigns” next.

Hey, the rumours are true :frowning:

They’ve said a hundred times that manual jumping will give you a speed boost and open up alternatives that SMART won’t.

Persistent Ranks - rewards time played not skill, great so now we are playing an MMO

No great fan of this myself but I think it’s indicative of the mainstream audiences expectation. They leave these out and they’ll be crapped on by the media and gamers alike. At least they’ve acknowledged the concerns people have around these things and are trying to minimise the douche factor they bring with them.

Crappy grenades and 1 button does all system, did you see Wolfenstein? it was terrible… another console feature.

I’ll spare judgement after we actually see the game, as they say “constantly tweaking and changing”. They certainly didn’t do Wolfenstein so I don’t know why you’re even comparing the two.

VOIP off by defualt, great for consoles but seriously who was in that meeting? were the guys working on the PC versione even there? no serious PC gamer would go yeah thats a great idea…

Yeah because no PC gamer gets uptight and starts ranting like a mad man.

Seriously. I probably agree with this but they seem to be doing it based on the in-game comms system taking the burden of pub comms and the VOIP being for your friends. That makes some sense.

Steam just another step to systems like Xbox live etc and monopilies terrible idea.

Do we need another Steam FUD thread? It’s there because it offers a lot of functionality that PSN and Live does.

I’m glad its delayed, maybe SD can have a good look at themselves and realise what they are doing. The reality is though that they probably have, what do you get, Sellouts $$$$$$. Nice way to thank the people that supported you over the last 7 years, IW all over.

LOL you supported them how? By playing W:ET for free? And how have they sold out, they’re doing nothing different than they did with W:ET and ETQW, they’re an independent contractor making a game for a publisher.

Dude, calm down. It’s just a game, if you have to be angry at anyone go punch your friends who only buy and play games on consoles, they’re 100 times more to blame for your grievances than SD is.

I’m ok with all that really, I’ve become more of a casual gamer as of late =p
Except the steam availability issue.

I just want brink T_T
