Orbital Strike energy cost misprint

On the selection screen for ur commander it says an orbital strike will cost 3 energy…it actually costs 8 which is at least double what it should given its range. It is entirely useless and expensive since it only has a 3 square deployment range, costs 8 energy and takes up 3 ability points.

If it is going to cost 8 energy it should have a 5-6 square deployment range. If it was to cost 3 energy to use then yes it could have a 3 square deployment range because you could actually move in to use it. With it costing 8 energy to use it is completely useless because your commander can only move 3 squares before deploying it. No way to get him back under cover or anything. If he was already that close he would already be dead.

To be an actual upgrade it should cost 3 energy to use and have a 4 or 5 square deployment range.

Most people before getting it would assume from its name that there would be an unlimited deployment range…

Orbital strike is powerful and does not need you to see it’s destination- not like artillery.
it does more than twice the dmg of artillery and due to it’s no-sight-needed it is perfectly for maps like park square- market and many more where many obstacles are that may inhibit your skill use.
if it’s range would be much further it would be overpowered. there is nothing in the game that does such a huge aoe dmg- only melee weapons or high cost sniper rifles (with headshot) come close to it - but not aoe.

I think the dmg is fine
the misprint is still there though

Yeah, Orbital Strike is pretty much made for high risk, high reward. Your Captain has to move up with the frontline for it to see any real effective use, and once the enemy figures out you’re going to start dropping lasers on them, they’re either going to back up or start gunning exclusively for them.

It is also the single most satisfying skill in the game.

One of my favorites in market since LOS (line of sight) doesn’t matter. So all the pretty walls and deploy stuff ppl hide behind is useless. Using it while advancing behind the shield-o-bot or deployo-cover makes it deadly to go close.
