Optional Pre-Released Update Testing. (Development Idea)

(YeOldeButtcheek) #1

This idea has been in my mind for awhile. To me at least it would create heavier feedback on new updates in the future.
What the title suggests is a optional test update where players can create feedback based on the gameplay changes, new maps, new actions like the newly implemented ‘trade in’ system, and many more.
In no way am I saying the development of Dirty Bomb is not correct, but it would heavily influence changes in the official update.
This ‘optional beta’ can be found here in-steam (If there was one):

If this were to be implemented, I feel more community influence could definitely effect the official update.
Please state your opinions if this change were to happen.

Last I heard, they were working on the idea of PTR’s. It wasn’t 100% confirmed, but they were definitely looking into it.

Dunno about this, I guess it can be useful?

Off-topic, I’ve always wondered, people like you. How do you guys have that much time to play like 50 games that cost a total of like $1,500+? Not trying to be offensive, just really curious :stuck_out_tongue:

Having steam for roughly 4ish years it really adds up.

I’ve been on Steam and buying digitally for almost 12 years now. So I have gathered a lot of games over that time. Most of the time I pick up games that I might be interested in if it’s discounted heavily. One of the major bonuses of being a PC gamer is the fact that our games tend to get much cheaper much faster so you can spend $60, the price of a new title, and get yourself 12 extremely solid titles if you buy at the right time. Sure, you might not end up playing through all of them or even installing some of them ever, but sometimes you do and can be pleasantly surprised.

Would work but depends on player-base. This would separate the community as it is, because one would play on the test servers the other would play on normal servers.

These servers usually would last 2 days.

Also, to weigh in on this…this is exactly what would happen if they released a public test realm. Just like any other game that does public tests before a new patch hits you’d need to get your client updated and it would need to be separate from your normal install.

This is something SD said a while back they are working on. Nobody knows when that will actually become available though.
