Option to Mute Certain Merc calls?

(SnakekillerX) #1

I’ve been finding more and more lately that people will just continuously spam merc voice sounds. I guess people find it funny to cough like… 20 times before the match starts?

Now, I know I could just mute these people, however this will also mute their mic, which when the round starts they might actually be using properly. Also, its often multiple people doing it, so it means I’d have to mute a whole bunch of people to remedy the issue, and each map the mute settings reset towards players anyway.

Would be nice if there were some audio settings to allow/disallow certain voice categories.
Calls for help (Medic!) could remain on, while muting silly things like (Cough) that really contributes nothing anyway.
The option to mute enemy team merc taunts would also be nice, as often they spam them too.

Just so it doesn’t sound like I’m just whining about nothing, here are a few screen shots from earlier which ultimately prompted me to make this post.

The last one shows a failed vote kick attempt initiated by someone else who was annoyed with the spamming as well.
It isn’t surprising that the vote kick failed, as there were multiple people on my team doing the same thing so they weren’t about to kick each other for doing it.

In my experience, merc taunt spam isn’t much of a problem, but I suppose an option to mute it would please some people.

But I’d still cherish (and spam) Kira’s V-5-7 taunt, even if nobody else could hear it.

Don’t get me wrong, I like some of the merc dialogue in the game, I just feel that it shouldn’t be spammed like 20 times in one minute.

Not only does it annoy people, it makes what might be a funny bit of dialogue very boring and no longer funny, like when you’ve heard the same joke for the millionth time.

Either an option to mute certain categories, or a more strict anti-spam for voice chat would be nice.

Doesn’t the “Dialogue” slider under the audio section of the settings mute merc taunts too? You could try that.

Nah its fine as it is, I would rather they remove mute merc voice anyway, as quick chat is too delicious to not use.

odd man. You must get the most active lobbys. Mine are so quiet and alone… sigh :’(

You can lower the dialogue volume yes, but the problem is you’ll miss things that aren’t spam too. “medic!” It would just be nice to have some sort of option for when people act dumb and make it annoying to play.

I’ve been resorting to muting them, but again it means anything they might say over mic like… “they are about to defuse” is also unheard.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but muting them doesn’t actually affect the voice calls.
Or chat in general.

It does as of a few patches ago. It mutes merc calls and text chat from that player as well as their mic.
