Optimisatiom

(exaltedRuler) #1

Hello I have computer on which I should have around 90 fps on max settings, but I have 40. Any ideas to have more fpses on max setting?

You are on Dirty Bomb optimisation is last thing you should be expecting here.

Make sure thread sync is off.

How do you know it should be on 90FPS? comparing it to Minecraft?

Might be comparing to Minesweeper.

In before it’s an AMD 955 Black Edition running at 70c (8 degrees over damage temps on that proc) or a laptop. I’ve run into so many of those lately.

I dislike how “optimisation” has become a catch-all term for performance. If you’re PC isn’t very good or has overheating issues it’s always a game “optimisation” issue. Instead of stating what your specs are and asking why the game isn’t performing well people instantly say, “it has bad optimisation” now. It’s a somewhat new phenomenon and I have no clue where it started.

OP, state your specific computer specs and your processor/gpu temps while Dirty Bomb is not only running but on server for a couple of minutes. Also, it could be a threadsync issue as well.

Comparing to bf4

This game is pretty CPU-heavy. I’m afraid you’ll have to use a potato config. Not joking.

And @Amerika , DB really -is- painful when it comes to system demand, most of it thanks to the CPU issue.

I can run BF4 at max settings and record my gameplay in full resolution, no problem at all. But Dirty Bomb? Nope, i5 4690 Quad Core @ 3,5GHz - not enough for DB without a potato config.
And it’s not even about textures, it’s something to do with effects.

I’m very aware of that. It’s a typical UE3 thing as it was developed during a time where people consistently had stronger processors than GPU’s. Now it’s kind of the other way around which is why comparing DB which is CPU heavy and BF4 which relies heavily on GPU and even your ram (Frostbite 2 is one of the few engines that care about ram speed oddly enough).

Also, I’m mostly ranting about people who blame a game and not even think to question what could be wrong or simply not be good hardware for a particular game. It’s pretty common now when it used to not be.
