I personally think the full color scheme makes them look like toys. I got the cobalt Beckhill and I find it too shiny, I don’t like the fact that it is full shiny blue (even its haft). Same happens with the Katana and the axe, original skin looks more like a weapon. But hey it’s just my opinion.
Maybe if they added some decals and not just full recolors it would be better
Opinions on the new melee skins?
At least be consistent…the batons only have a wee bit of color on them.
TBH, I can’t wait for the Golden Axe…
Most of the skins in DB suffer from the same issue tbh. They’re just a random flat shiny pattern, not a proper paint job, so they all look kinda terrible with a few exceptions. I’m not really surprised melee weapons are the same.
I don’t really mind a smooth shiny colour, but I wish they didn’t paint the handles too. The batons look pretty good, but something like the beckhill is just terrible.
It’s better than nothing, but I hope they release some more inventive skins in the future.
So far the silver cricket bat has been the only skin I really liked and that’s the price of playing two missions cycles. This seems to become a fairly cheap event.
I think that SD just wants to test how melee skins work out in game which is why they did this event.
I have no doubt that we will get more melee skins (and I mean with proper skins) in the future and this event was just a test
True. There will be locked cases containing better looking melee skins for sure

Idk, phantom’s obsidian’s katana had a unique orange line across it, so they likely knew how to do most of it before hand.
Even if it was just a test, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just do it in their own PTS with some random placeholder texture.
I don’t know how SD works in their backend, but it just doesn’t make much sense as to why they’d really need to test something like this. And even if they did, there’s no reason they couldn’t just use actual textures instead of a solid colour. It’s really not hard to just paste in a generic texture like SD does with weapons.
Imo they just wanted to easily produce as many rewards as possible, and making a solid colour texture was easiest for them. SD has mentioned “rewarding players who have mountains of credits” an unhealthy amount, so I’m assuming he’s trying to drain everyone’s accounts before 1.0 release so everyone starts with a more or less equal grind ahead of them.

but later on, once the trading is available, the skins that are at the store right now will be bound to be the most expensive and exclusive ones, regardless of how they look, because they were the FIRST
I learned that from TF2 trading. CSGO is the same story, also PAYDAY2; history repeats itself.
been there done that.
There kinda bland should have made them multi color and im still waiting for ability skins. And weapon inspect for the abilities.

I think they’re saving stuff like that for new cases after the event is over.
I agree with you, they’re kinda meh to me and I’m not particularly interested…getting the bronzes ones because they’re free.
