(Salt aside on whoever dislikes Rhino during Free rotation.)
I personally don’t care on who is selected for rotation.
Opinions on Rhino in Rotation.
A lot of newer players pick Rhino for that reason. Easy target practice and you get to learn how to counter Rhino. In the past week alone, I’ve taken out several Rhinos as Arty, Kira and Proxy without needing to use my special abilities.
Rhino is all about good positioning. Newer players often struggle with this so it hasn’t been too bad.
He also force you to master movement.
You can’t play him efficiently if you always stick with the minigun and don’t do jumptricks.
Boring merc who slows the game down to a crawl when entrenched. Easy to kill when pubbers play him which is nice. Makes me fall asleep after fighting them every game.
Rhino is overall a well balanced merc. The problem is map design - certain locations become nearly unassailable when you have one or more Rhinos backed up by an Aura. With more alternate routes for flanking I don’t think we’d have any significant issues with Rhino anymore.
As a rotation merc Rhino is not particularly frightening because beginners don’t have the necessary experience to use him in the right spots. And despite being a free merc, competent Auras in pubs are incredibly rare and players don’t have the patience to defend her anyway.
Bad, but probably not for the reason others might say bad. Bad in the same way that Vassili or Phantom on rotation is bad. Unless they know what they’re doing Rhino players are a determent to the team.
