Opinions on Gallery?

The new Execution map looks incredible. I really do enjoy the design and the twists and turns in the middle of the map. However, I believe there’s just too many invisible walls blocking various spots, routes, jumps, etc. There are little ledges and areas within the map that you could easily jump to if it weren’t for these walls stopping you. I feel like this really takes away from the map’s potential. I notice it constantly. It makes getting around the map somewhat awkward because sometimes just wall jumping will cause you to collide with a wall that isn’t there.

I feel like the map could benefit greatly by reducing the amount of these walls and opening up areas that appear to be accessible. Currently, it looks pretty, I’ll give it that, but the usable area on the map is much smaller than is presented. There are dozens of spots for possible trick jumps, turret spots, ambush positions, and so on.

I feel like I’m playing Call of Duty with all of the invisible walls blocking things. Dirty Bomb is very unique with its gameplay and I’d hate to see it take the wrong route. More jumps/trick jumps and lines of sight or spots to get to would be nice so we can benefit from mastering the “parkour” element in the game. :wink:

That’s just my opinion though and I’m wondering how everyone else feels? I know that the map will most likely not be changed (same goes with the bad changes to Market), but I still enjoy Gallery. It’s a breath of fresh air. :smiley:

I think people haven’t quite figured out the flow of the map yet. Half of the rounds I played everyone just charged down the middle, and if they survived they would then got lost on the left or right. I’m sure that’ll settle down quick enough :slight_smile:

It’s pretty cool to me. The areas and the way its arranged makes me think of arena-style maps of olden times. Reinforces one of the things I like about execution compared to the other modes - that the Assault classes can really shine here.

Same here! I really enjoy it. I just wish I could benefit from utilizing trick jumps or finding spots for ambushing enemies. Don’t get me wrong, there are still areas to do this, but the map has so many invisible walls making it impossible to land on a certain ledge or move into a certain area.

I noticed that Stoker and Thunder appear to be extremely useful (two mercs which I often use). So Fragger would definitely be useful too. There’s a few areas where enemies tend to cluster together and you can get quad-kills with ease. :smiley:

This probably belongs in Map Discussion, not General, but it might slide because new content.

I haven’t played any matches on it, mostly because I don’t like Execution, but I have been derping around in singleplayer just to check out the map.

Holy hell is it gorgeous. I really want to see Objective maps looking like this, especially with the vertical design.

Also there are so many movement paths. Just running around seeing what routes and trick jumps there were was a lot of fun. Jumping around and off of the pylons is absolutely great.

Gallery is visually stunning, however as far as the gameplay I find the map too redundant, inconsistent, and jumbled at times.

Since me and a lot of players are used to a linear two route based maps gallery can feel a bit unnerving.

Played one execution match just to see Gallery. I won’t play execution, I don’t like it, so I can’t tell how I feel about this map’s gameplay etc., but I can tell you one thing: I love how it looks!

played phantom for a mission the same time i decide to try out gallery. again, i have no qualms about the gamemode, but there are a mite too many missions that end up RNG-ing onto it. anyway, i soon figured out i could quickly get to this spot in the middle area and cloak, and if people came through, there would be enough cloak for all of them to pass, and then i would lunge attack them. thoroughly enjoyed being useless.

Do you play on U.S. East/SA Servers? I played with someone earlier who kept calling himself useless LOL. I was laughing my ass off. He also said he was getting carried by our team.

Phantom is definitely a lot of fun on Gallery though. There’s lots of places where seeing the cloak is pretty difficult. I need to play with him so more to check out what hotspots are the best to lurk at :slight_smile:

as with things that are new most people will probably think nahhhh this is crap.

as we learn new maps they can become good.

if im honest dont really like the design too many twist turns entry points.bit like dome.

the best maps are simple.like chapel and underground.keep maps straight forward.it makes the game flow better.the art though is very nice.
