Game is looking good, thing is though Ubisoft is kinda shitty… Opinions?
Opinions on For Honor?
You fence? I use a katana, lost a few fingers here and there, how do I play videogames…
get mount and blade warband. its better gameplay, but worse graphics than for honor.
you cant be a mercenary, kill your way up to the top like griffith, then forcefully marry a king daughter.
i actually never play games as complicated as Mount and Blade warband.
(get “Me Floris” mod too for extra complicated troop classes)
the graphics are sort of okay for potato games. but it still bit lags if total war commences in the game (500+ troops fighting in one screen makes it lags)
There’s also Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
I tried it out during free weekend, and it’s really nice first-person melee mechanic, with a learning curve.
There are only like 1,5K daily players, should be enough.
i kinda like the for honor on putting 3 faction with different people and armor.
havent try to learn the gameplay tho.
i think i might pick it up if its bretty good for my weeb-fedora feudal japan taste
I prefer the third person concept. The gameplay is very skill dependent with the different stances, guard breaks, heavy/light attacks, 12 different balanced characters with strengths and weaknesses, combos, unblockable attacks, parries, dodging, abilities, stamina management, and etc.
If you want to be skilled at the game then you have to learn each character in order to understand how to combat them with the one you choose. I found a player that believes he’s the best Orochi player in the Alpha and seeing his gameplay he’s right, he understands how Orochi works but he needs to also understand how the rest fight in order to truly master Orochi.
With soo many mechanics and styles of play I think this is going to be one of Ubisoft’s games that save them. (hacking and slashing does not work against a skilled player)
Not only that but Vikings vs Samurai vs Knights… How is that not awesome!!!

Have you seen the Orochi video? It’s badass samurai ninja stuff that everyone loves.

i do, mostly with longsword, it annoys me how slow is the knight guy in this game, i am 15yo and i have no problems with running in full armor (except that i often fail because i cant see shit)
Sadly I’m not @sweetColumn and didn’t have the chance to get my hands on the Alpha but I saw Oroboros Videos (a very good Dark Souls PvP YouTuber/Streamer) on For Honor and he loved it. Having in mind that we both love Dark Souls PvP and the gameplay footage looked amazing I’m surely willing to overlook that it’s ubisoft. I just can’t wait to play it! I hope I get a key for the beta.
The only things I saw so far that might be a problem is map and gamemode diversity. The Alpha had 3 modes (1v1, 2v2, and that 4v4 dominion mode (which looked awesome)) and just looking at those I wouldn’t be surprised if many people get tired of it pretty quickly.
Also the diversity of characters. The fun thing about Dark Souls PvP is that you never know what kind of build your opponent has made. Maybe it’s a quick and agile dex build. Maybe a strength build with a weapon bigger that the person carrying it. Maybe a mage, archer or a naked half dead random dude that has one attack which is capable of ohk everyone but that one attack is very hard to hit. The possibilities are endless… in For Honor you’re a melee guy… with a couple of different melee weapons… that seemed to not be thaaat different gameplay whise. (But who knows, I didn’t test it)
And last but not least: Balancing. You can equip Armor and other things to change your looks and also boost stats. Let’s just hope those Parts aren’t overpowered and that the combination of that and microtransactions don’t make the game p2w.

youre telling me that ubisoft not doing microtransaction? BLASPHEMY!
but seriously tho, i find the gameplay not really deep like darksouls (which i enjoyed very much).
interesting mechanic where each class has their own kind of attack but people will find that fast high damage attack and then spam it.
meanwhile in mount and blade…
i have to block the attack of 100+ peasants trying to bash my head in.

I disagree. The gameplay has a lot of depth.
You can try to spam fast attacks with high damage (aka Orochi) but every attack is blockable, dodgeable, and parryable. Orochi lacks abilities that allow him to land attacks and is more dependent on the opponent lacking in block/parry skills in order to deal damage, if the opponent misplays his parry or block then that gives you a window to damage him. If you misplay and he blocks your katana combos then he’ll basically have a free swing, because Orochi lacks health it’s punishing for you to get hit.
Not only that you have to manage Stamina that you consume (Orochi can consume his quickly), if you use it up it’s a good 3-4 seconds of slower attacks, less damage, less movement speed, etc.
That’s just a few things though, we shouldn’t forget guard breaks, unblockable attacks, stuns, disorientation, environmental dangers (ie cliffs, fire, spikes, etc.), and teammate abilities that help you.
I think this game might be one of the few slashy type games with skill that I’ve considered for some time.
