Operatives!

Ok, as an operative what do you like to do most?

I usually disguise myself go to the enemy side, wait for an enemy to get close to the objective, and double knife em. When ever there is a pile of enemy corpse, I disguise myself as all of em just for exp. I’m still trying to realize all of the great opportunities to use spikes. If see a turret in my obj. wheel, then I disguise n’ hack/ remote. That’s useful because enemy turrets mark where the enemy feels safe and can potentially wipe out the entire enemy team at least once. One thing that SUCKS is if you try to knife a computer…they notice you INSTANTLY after losing a disguise and usually will melee you and shoot ya. I only try that on humans…

Post your favorite thing to do as an operative here! ^^
I’d make it a poll but what ever it is you like to do may not be one of the options soo… :penguin:

I love defending objectives with EMP oh and hacking enemy turrets that’s awesome!

(wolfnemesis75) #3

Pretty much anything that involves causing mischief, disruption, and being an all around pain in the ass to enemy, especially on Security Tower. Disguising, hanging out like you are “One of Them” and spotting is a hella fun.

(thrill11) #4

Omg that’s the best part. You just cant stand behind em too much cuz a human would eventually find you.

My favorite is disguising and marking the entire enemy team for the whole game. i can just imagine them getting so angry. “you’ve been marked they can see you!” every five seconds the whole match lol. and you get tons of XP as well.

(wolfnemesis75) #6

Yeah. you have to appear like you are headed towards enemy (your teammates ) if they approach. If you appear to be camping too long, then they know the game is a foot. A trick I learned is too run away behind enemy like you are one of them. You have to actually play the part. Be prepared to just start attacking when their back is turned. Suicide in this game can help your team win. Something some have not realized or fully grasp. Operative sacrifice can be a way to open a room for your team, or a push. Just sliding around and knocking people off their feet can take them out of their game.

Would you recommend light type for the sliding? I keep trying to get used to it. I’ve also tried so hard to get used to heavy on my soldier, but I JUST CAN’T no matter how hard I try. I always end up going back to medium. I’ll try light type once more though. I just imagined how powerful operative can be as a light type. :penguin:

I don’t get that much use out of the disguise ability. I enjoy hacking turrets and throwing caltrops int front of turrets and hacking comms.

Yeah, my Operative uses the light body type just because it makes it easier for him to get around the map faster.

As for Abilities, I don’t really have a favorite as I use quite a lot of the Operative’s Abilities regularly.

A regular game session as Operative usually goes like this:

Homing Beacon an enemy then kill him, then Comms Hack him and Disguise myself. Then I head to the main objective spotting enemies and mines on the way.

If I’m on offense and the objective is something other than hacking I’ll just hunker down by it spotting mines and enemies until my team arrives, at which point I’ll hack any enemy turrets nearby. If I’m on defense I’ll wait for the enemy team to come near then toss down a Sticky Bomb and Caltrops near the Objective and look for an opportunity to re-disguise myself.

key op ability on attacking maps = spot mines. if you disguise yourself and get ahead of the team, then the hydro carrier or the code deliverer or whatever doesn’t get blown off track by an invisible mine (i hate it when that happens to me, so i spot mines whenever possible).

on the way, spot enemies, when you get “there”, hack a turret, throw a caltrops when your team gets close, etc.

I found a new use for the sticky bomb the other day. Basically you know areas where ops usually disguise themselves to make a kill. For example the hack objective on Refuel.

Place a sticky bomb at the bottom of the stairs, when a disguised enemy comes running along if the bomb sticks, start shooting!

Yeh I think people underestimate the need to spot mines. They can be a major pain in the ass. Guess you could say an operative is engineer proof. This could be leading to a class chain.

Sorta like the elements thing. Fire-> Earth-> wind-> water-> fire.
So…Soldier-> medic-> operative-> engineer-> Soldier ??? No…that doesn’t make any sense, but one thing I do know is that operatives are heavy equipped to battle engineers.

I spec’d my two characters this way.

my soldier/medic takes/gives health
my eng/op creates-structure/causes-chaos.

Light, medium works too, but you are faster with light. If you slide into someone they can still kill you. A good habit to get into is after you slide them, instead of shooting right away (you will be in their line of sight even though they are on the ground) move out of their viewing angle to their blindspot, and then shoot them. So slide, move, then shoot.

(nephandys) #15

Personally I am partial to the medium body type, but light is just as effective depending on your playstyle.

(AmishWarMachine) #16

I’m a HUGE proponent of controlling the command posts, especially the health CP, so one of my priorities as an operative (when there is no main/secondary hack objective, of course), is to disguise myself and capture command posts. Since Ops don’t have any buffs to dole out to the rest of the team, CP’s are my way of giving back.

I do so enjoy hacking turrets, as it (losing turrets) can quickly turn the tide on a opponent that’s really dug themselves in and successfully holding off your team from advancing on an objective.

What do I like to do most as Operative? Watching people dance in my caltrops. Watching people run wild with a sticky bomb on 'em. I really like EMPing things too.
