Operative ideas- poision, gun jams and more

When you disguise as a medic, you should be able to inject poison, they see their health buff, but it actually injects them with poison. the posion will take away 60hp(1/2 of a lights and 1/3 of a heavy) and will take its time effecting the soldier but with disorientation
As a disguised soldier, you should give them ammo, they see ammo, but as soon as your far enough away or a certain period of time has gone, their Guns Jamm up( too big bullets) this only takes a few seconds to repair
And as a disguised engineer you can weaken their guns .but it wears off after time and if a engineer buffs their gun, it negetes it and adds what the engineer would normally buff them for
Disguised operative : tricky: when the person your disguised as sees oyou. you dont look like them .So you look like another person to them(more importantly, not anyone that is neerby_ but theyre teamates will see double so be carefull

also you should be able to shoot blanks to trick the enemy, these do no damage to ur team. if u shoot an enemy however, you lose your disguse and do damage.
Disclaimer: these work wonders on the frontline but not in the back alleys.

These things are only fun if the victim can chose to use it. Like a lethal revive syringe. Malicious ammo or health however isn’t optional.

it isnt as powerfull as it sounds, the gun dont jam up 4 long and the weakon doesnt last.

These sound like fairly good ideas to make the Operative class more appealing; as it is, I don’t feel any inclination to play as an Operative, their duties include too little and disguising doesn’t help much when hacking causes the disguise to be removed.

The only good thing ive done with the operative is disguise then managed to keep running around near the bot in disguise and not been noticed. As I was running around jumpin up walls etc I didnt get detected was pretty good.

They do need some more things to do tho, only thing I would say about the poison idea would be to make it so it just downed you not completly killed you

Yeah, that would also help, maybe if u disgused as engy it looks lke u removing it when ur close and hacking?
Poision would halve the hp of a light and disorientate, effective on the front lines but for a guy held up in a corner, nah. ALSO! when givign supplies as medic u give them the tainted ammo,buffs and Syringes?or too OP?

Need to be able to use weapons while in uni for a limited amount of shots + pick up enemy weapons.

Sorry4double post: What do people think of giving tainted supplies. Too OP? Or is it ok? Should you get points for doing it or only when the actually negative effect kicks in?

Poison grenade would be fun, minimal damage over time and slows enemy down. :slight_smile:

Like I said in the other thread, I think this is a really good idea and I hope devs see this.

As of right now the Operative class doesn’t have much point other than doing objectives. The soldier class with flash bangs and molotovs is much more useful.

I find disguise actually very useful. The only thing I have ever successfully used it for was too pass all the enemies unnoticed and gain control of their Command post and then firewall it. I think you guys have to start using disguise more for secondary objectives.

I don’t like all of the ideas, but some are vaguely inspiring. What if Operative could sabotage Command Posts by filling them with broken equipment ?

  • when players refill ammo, they get one special magazine instead of the normal one. The special magazine contains only blanks ! Imagine “Oh, ****!” feelings the enemy soldier would get when they’re down to last clip and it turns out it’s all blanks ! It could work like this: if your gun has a magazine of 32, your last 32 rounds would be blanks… if your Command Post was sabotaged.
    Sabotaged command posts would need an engineer to fix them.
  • players running to command posts to heal themselves could receive a dose of hallucinogenic.
  • Grenades from a sabotaged Command Post could explode in your hands when you prime them !
  • or, if these abilities are too confusing or too powerful, Operative could place bugs in an enemy Command Post. Similar to Comms Hack.

In my opinion much more fitting than Firewall, which could’ve as well be engy’s. Operative currently has so many filler abilities that are no good.

I think you’re onto something and the other people with ideas too. It’s the one class a usually stay away from because I think the other classes seem to have more going for them. But I also agree it is being under used. The game has almost been out for a week. Most everybody is still learning what the heck is going on.

I will agree that I think the guns need to jam sometimes. Probably not at the beginning of the round, but if you are putting rounds through it a lot let’s say 1000 it should start having hiccups. Perfect use the the right stick push down (on Xbox360).

Keeps the ideas coming because I think they are all good ones.

Another way would be having some attachment which has chance of gun jamming as a drawback. For example Drum Magazine, or one of the others. That way it wouldn’t annoy people who don’t like it. It would be opt-in.

The sad part is - if Splash Damage decides to implement any of these in a patch they most likely won’t even say “Thank you, your_name”. Game developers don’t do that.
