Opensource Coding Contest

(aaa3) #21

nothings sure yet and it was said tht no other info will be avilable until its announced. there was some short talk about this in some very recent topic by rudi.

/late edit: no it doesnt. i misread somehow and that stuck in me that way/

(stealth6) #22
It would have been cool if it was started 2 years ago maybe even 3 when ET was at its prime.

SIDENOTE: So SD is going to release the ET source code?
what are you on about, we are about to enter the goldenage

(Rudi) #23

? That’s nothing to do with source code, just a new project.

(aaa3) #24

well im re-reading it tomorrow. horrible memories, or text-comprehedning :S but its heavily “oh sh…” suspect :S lol

edit - couldnt wait; true. but this was directly after mentioning the openness of its source  somehow i mixed it up. the thing is tho, that if not even now…
by the time this will be done, i fear nearly not many will want to do too much with it… or idk…

(reaply) #25

Goldenage my, wanted to say the other word but… since I read some where people get butt hurt from it I will say butt. ET was at its best and always will be between the time frame I posted.

(dutchmeat) #26

So, who’s in ?

(Cambodunum) #27

… not enough sparetime + not enough skill

greetz Cambo

(ailmanki) #28

Is using lua script from etpub allowed?

if so I might make an entry… maybe I find the time… nothing new… but might be fun.

(dutchmeat) #29

I would be amazed if you make a cool gametype with Lua. So it’s allowed

(carnage) #30

Nice idea, but unless there are a large number of coders who are already familiar with the source code I cant see it really being feasible.

And if there are coders who are familiar with the source I guess they are either working on there own mods or have previously and given up nodding WET

(stealth6) #31

sorry to wander off but what happened to this??
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16833&highlight=vampire

even if it’s not planned for release, maybe you could opensource it? Might be interesting for other coders.

(dutchmeat) #32

Well, we’ve stopped that project, and we’re planning to create a vampire game using the C4 engine, and release it. However, that project is now onhold due lack of time.

(reaply) #33

Well, he is asking if you can release the source code.

(dutchmeat) #34

i won’t release the source code (rtcw btw) because there a little changes (buggy leap code), and all the changes were done when I wasn’t that expierenced with coding, meaning it has got a ‘if it works then don’t look back’-attitude to it.

No one can learn anything from it.

(Cambodunum) #35

…‘if it works then don’t look back’-attitude …

… i know this attitude very well
(never touch a working mod xD)

(aaa3) #36

who said its about learning; maybe ppl who r still instd in it wanna finish it…
