OpenGL 3.1 Error

(Swiftloo) #1

Just got Brink, ran it got this error tried updating all latest ATI drivers - no success.
Is there any way of updating OpenGL to 3.1 so I can play it without buying a new graphics card?

Same problem here

(Runeforce) #3

No. OpenGL support is hardware based so there’s no way to upgrade it through a software upgrade. Your graphics card only supports OpenGL 2.1. You will need a new graphics card to run Brink. :frowning:

But to the second poster: Your error is completly different. I have no idea what caused it (or rather, what the error means) but it is not OpenGl 3.1 incompatibility. So it’s obvious not the “same problem here.”

The grafic drivers are 5 years old… You got a Mobile card so you have to be a little tricky to update to the actually latest drivers. Try to google for ati laptop update. But even then Im not sure if you hit minimum specs…

@geronimo, can you post a dxdiag, best in code brackets
@geronimo, can you post a dxdiag, best in code brackets
I’ve replied to geronimo in another thread.

FireWorks advice is accurate for your situation, Swiftloo. In many cases unofficial drivers have been released that may help, but as they are unofficial and are not endorsed by the graphics card manufacturer or the laptop provider, we cannot recommend them in an official capacity ourselves, either. Disclaimer: Try at your own risk.
