hope i fixed all bugs… this is my first map release.

um, don’t you think that posting screens that has to be downloaded first is a bit… stupid? upload them to photobucket, imageshack, tinypic or anthing else.

edit: just downloaded and tested the map…
it need a LOT of work! it’s so poor and feel empty…

… your map looks a lil bit empty and unplayable with those low fps
… you really have to work out some details and better (especially different) lookin’ textures

… go ahead and work on it :smiley:

On start of the map I get some setstate errors… dunno why

shader texture/sfx/safety_glass is missing,
Levelshot is missing,
Make a version without annoying sound,
Map looks very empty, was at first unsure if its my laptop which is only showing it all red… or if its your map ^^

objective text is missing, very important for public servers…

I like the layout of the map, and also that it is very big… but I think this is not yet playable… or players will just hate it.

Just Sound which is like background music, some people like it… but well most not… it means you have to disable your own sound, and often adjuste volume…
I had low fps, but thats no wonder with a gma945 from intel.

Something I forgot to mention, the moon is to near, or in other words make a correct skybox…

Have you tested your map with bots? Maybe that gives usefull feedback… dunno…
Oh and work with the lights, your map looks empty cause its everywhere red (it also tires my eyes :D)… Maybe more differencies, and maybe each floor its own colors… idk … just an idea

use r_speed to know how much it eats ressources

it must be red cause this is the only way you have to decide between awful red and dark map…
it has to be a dark map…
i want to leave it red. lower your gamma and your eyes maybe like it.
the music is supposed to make you feel like in a horror film.
hm… perhaps i should delete the first part of the music and lower the volume?

i will put some nicer textures on it.
but it should not be empty.
i think you found the way under the map…
should not be too empty i think.

however, i have to thank you a lot of lots…
cause it seems like you said what friends would not have said. -> the bad things in my map

yes and off course you have to half the map imaginary, cause it is symmetric

If it has to be red :slight_smile: , maybe its possible to use different tones of red? (idk if tones is the correct word in english - I mean different colors of red)…

The music is ok, actually allot of maps have music, then server admins come and change the mapscript to disable them in some cases… especially for pro playing. So it doesnt really matter. Unlike brush work this can be changed afterwards … hehe
I just had a thought about horror film :stuck_out_tongue: , they have always some noise and sounds, beside the music… So be sure to add some creepy sounds when you pass specific places… and maybe take a look at resurrection map… it has ghosts and scary sounds and scary fog…

Well I have seen bad maps, your map is not that bad :smiley: … at least you have caulked correctly I think… There is no leak … the map is textured, it has even 3 command map layers !, basically you have there some nice stuff put together a bit to fast :smiley: … polish it :smiley: test it … and I believe it could become an excellent map.

the problem is…
i like theoretical thinking…
i can do the scripting but i have no eye for details and i am lazy to do detailed mapping…
i also think it is not important e.g. to have a skymap… i have non… why do i need one… do you shot in the air to kill someone? xD

but i must say that i really have to make it a little bit nicer.

did you find the switcher in the upper middle of the map, and the secret way to the lower middle of the map?

I did hardly see the entries, to the lower area, cause of the same colors :stuck_out_tongue:

The switch in the upper took me a while to discover…, and a bit longer to get there… is the only way through the tower window? You really should test the map with some players/bots…

yes it is the only way ( it should be that hard cause the upper constructible is the easiest way to win the map and you can close the doors, so it has to be difficult to open them again )

i only tested it with one other guy.
i want to test it on a public server but i first have to ask the admin.

or Avoc could host a server again for me… but then many should come and test…

EDIT: i saw that his server is still running ^^

the music is good, but 1) u can make it more silent, 2) sometimes it dont play :S

it is somewhat too big 4 me. what about resizing it 75%? idk

the red is good and also the big moon, i think. but the moon is too close. move it much more far, then it is not strange from angles. it is no problem its too big, its a feature not a bug :smiley: (think its a horror map.)
and while the all red is not bad, u could differentiate it, to not to be too monotone, coz it really making hard to navigate. so somewhere more red light, somewhere less red light. somehow make the stairs especially more visible.
the layout so complex i dont really understood it :stuck_out_tongue: it may be my bad xd
u could make signs to where.
and it is annoying that u cant see yourself on command map.

u could make a detailed “instruction” about onslaught, and especially ur map, at readme. for example, what is team-energy. (ok i blowed it up and won, but the whole gameplay is new and we et players wont find it out ourselves.) what towers rotating and why. what are the arrows at some level with pushers. and every possible question. write everything about ur map what u can, to make the newbies understanding it, and the interested knowing it better.

yea make sound effects not only music.


p.s.-es:
1./ i checked the structural vs detail in ur map. its the same as it was in the very first stages months ago.
this suggests that u didnt understand it even now. i cant give u tutorials in german language, but i know they are exist. ask german ppl in the scene they could help u giving links.
for the structural vs detail, i made a [modified version](http://aaa3.no-ip.org/onslaught - opt.zip) from a very early *.map of u, to show u what i mean. use ctrl-d and ctrl-shift-d (strg=ctrl on german keyboards) to see what is str and what is det. and compare it with your original. its not a perfect alignment by me, but only shows what i mean. if u understood it, u can make some more walls structural again, as i only made the outer hull str, and everything det.

bout other map :stuck_out_tongue:
2./ did u download the picture zip i linked? what u think? i wanted to make similar city. idk about skyscreepers ^^ but we can include them if u want. we misunderstood each other, i imagined that al spawn normally (so they can choose) and ax falling from sky in center. and then they can secure the center spawn, but al can take it back and then ax again falling :smiley:
3./ is 1.5 working at ur pc? and u dislike it? or its not matter for u?
i used 1.4 to watch ur map, but 1.4 is VERY VERY strange for me and it would be a huge pain if i had to work in it… i dont even know if i can… if its not a problem lets 1.5 ok? ^^
4./ ok i will send u a very detailed drawing how i imagine it. later :D. (and maybe a very rough *.map)
5./ damn i was lazy to pm so wrote here XD

[off:D]yes, ally jump is more realistic, afterall they have to take the city from axis, but the axis jump is very simple to make thats why i thought of that.

but i invented a fantasy- historical background for axis jumping XD:
allied already ruined and occupied the city, but axis forget there and important next-gen futuristic technical thing, a “wunderwaffe”. and they must go back there :D. we could place it in 1945 berlin (yea im already in this idea:P), and axis coming from czech, austrian, north-italian, norway areas on plane (these were last axis remnant (imperial remnant like in star wars :P) areas in ww2).
everything can be reasoned if fantasy allowed :stuck_out_tongue:

and ok ty for 1.5 i really need it :slight_smile:
