One thing I'm worried about...

One thing that’s been bugging me for some time now about Brink, is how in depth the customization is. In one of the videos you can choose the uniform your character wears (or a soccer/football jersey of some sort), and it made me wonder… “Would I be able to tell the difference between a friendly or foe?”

I had this problem in Metal Gear Online, and it annoyed me so badly that I stopped playing the game after only trying MGO for 30 minutes and I don’t regret never giving it another chance.

Recently in the “Assault Container City” video posted on SD’s website, I noticed that the person playing (Alias = ‘Jolly’) was Security and he was with the faction “Security” and they all had Blue armor of some sort and the Resistance was colored Red.

Then this made me fear, “Won’t this take away from customization?”
What do you guys think?
(Please don’t flam)

Your customization isn’t limitless, you are choosing pre-made items and there’s a general look for security and a separate one for resistance that you’ll be forced to saty within as you choose your outfilts. This way securuity guys look like they should and resistance guys look like they should. It sounds like they worked hard to make sure the two factions were readily distinguishable from each other.

Also, you’ll be given HUD element clues to help you distinguish between friend and foe, particularly as your cursor hovers over them.

I’m just gonna shoot everybody.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

That’s my last resort if this game is having that issue.

Right, the ‘HUD element clues’ are what I’d like, IE in COD4/MW2 the enemies name would pop up when I aimed in their direction. It ruined the concept of camouflage and hiding but I think the sticky aim was a bigger problem with that…

When I said limitless I didn’t mean that literally, I was aware that there were restrictions (like the tire armor for Resistance and Kevlar for Security). However I’m more scared for color schemes… can you have whatever color you want, per say; a jersey or T-shirt?

No. Each faction has their own color scheme.

don’t snipe and don’t be stealth

Most vanilla servers / PVP setups will have friendly fire off anyway… Be like a Victorian (Australia) police officer - Shoot first, ask questions later

when friendlies are in buffrange, they’ll have a coloured outline by wich you can see they are allies, and enemies your aiming at will have a different colour outline. i think it’s respectively green and red(?)
other than that, the distance is normally never big enough so you can’t see what kind of clothes they are wearing.

What about when friendly fire is turned on?:penguin:

(Nikto) #11

i can see him being yelled at by people not knowing he hasn’t turned VOIP on

ESPECIALLY when friendly fire is turned on.

I’m taking the Ark for MYSELF.
