In a game that stresses teamwork, why is VoIP turned off by default? They say it’s because off little kids and whining and racism, etc. But, just being able to mute people individually (can you do this?) would be better than totally turning off VoIP by default. I can’t wrap my head around it. I mean, you are STRESSING TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION, yet you turn off chat…
One decision I don't understand..
VoiceIp is off by default, but I guess you will have a lot of servers with it enabled, and yes you can mute people when its on.
I think it’s to reduce newb bashing. They’re trying to make a game that lets players that aren’t traditionally multiplayer fans to transition from a single player setting to a multiplayer one. They realize one thing that stops people from doing so is when they first start, they’re bad. And when they’re bad, they get slammed by elitests who call them things that well, HBO would blush about.
People in your fireteam are able to talk back and forth. And there are modes that have Voip on by default I believe. To overcome the Voip being off, they make it so when you buff, or choose an objective, your character announces what your doing to everyone on your team. Say you’re a medic and you pick an object to revive an ally, it will announce to your ally that a medic is on his way and show who that medic is, for example.
I don’t think it’ll be as bad as you think, especially if you just get a few friends in your fireteam. You’ll be set!
Whilst Campaign, and the Standard server config, only allow VOIP in Fireteams to avoid griefing there are other settings (Advanced, Competition and Old Skool configs) that have VOIP available team wide from the outset.
Just stick to the config with the feature set you prefer
