On Reporting Hackers ~ The Best Way to Report Hackers

(Ardez1) #1

Splash Damage is aware of the issues with the existing Anti-Cheat. A new AC program is currently in place, but hasn’t been released publicly yet because it needs additional testing and polish before that happens. The current AC provided by Xigncode3 will be replaced when this new AC is ready to deploy.

The In-Game reporting function is also currently being worked on. It will be released once it is completed, as with anything else. Please have patience as new features are developed and deployed.

If you see a hacker, please try and get their steamID! This is helpful piece of the puzzle and saves a ton of time when going through player reports.

How do you get their steam ID if their name keeps changing? Pretty simple! When you are in a match with a hacker you need to follow these steps.

  1. Hold down TAB to view the scoreboard.
  2. Press ALT or Mouse2 to gain mouse control
  3. Right click on the hackers name
  4. Click View Steam Profile

You are now at the hackers profile and their stream ID is the full URL at the top of the page. If it isn’t you may need to enable links to appear in steam. Steps for that are below!

How to get Steam profile address?
The easiest way is to use Steam browser.
To do it You must enable showing of the URL address in Steam options.

If You don’t have it enabled:
• Enter into Steam options
• Next open Interface tab
• Check “Display Steam URL address bar when available”
• Press OK

If You have enabled showing URL already - open Your friends list.
Choose a person, open his menu and choose “View Steam Profile”.

If you are unable to get this information please ensure you can provide the servername and time of day. You may not be able to provide the exact name, but the Region, Server Size and the Map you were playing on will also help. You may not be able to determine the exact server number if you didn’t have it before joining the match.

As far as doing the actually reporting, please use the guide linked here. Thank you for reading, and thank you for reporting any hackers you see in Dirty Bomb.

If you notice one, whether they are on your side or the other let people know. Band together, if the kick doesn’t work don’t play the match, sit at the spawn. It is like a protest, a sit in if you will. I played in a match the other night and we did this as a group and the cheater eventually left, the server filled back up and we had a fun game. If they don’t have anyone to use their super awesome cheats on then they will leave. We have to work together as a community to weed out these people. Winning at a video game isn’t that important.

The developers develop the game, we as a community need to police it, for now anyway. If you want to have a good experience in game it is up to us, the players, to make it happen. Way to many people complain about the lack of anti cheat in game, I get the frustration but do something about it. The developers are trying to complete their game. It is in a beta state if you remember. So again do something constructive about the cheating problem. Complaining about it while doing nothing does not help the situation.

That is pretty much it. Band together, get rid of those cheaters when you see them.

we did the same in a comp match but he dint leave

atm there are to many hackers in the game now
the developers need to update there anti cheat
and make something that it will detect or close injectors

I’m not sure what to tell you man. Just have to keep doing it and make sure everyone is on board. Both teams need to do this. Mostly likely he didn’t leave because it was a competitive match and didn’t want whatever penalty there is for leaving.

Like I said, I understand the frustration but until such a thing implemented we have to try our best. If you truly want this game to succeed it is up to the community to make it so.

Oh, good to know that I did the right thing. I submitted a report earlier today and I made sure to include the steam URL in the description because of the particular nature of this particular cheat.

Now if only there was an easy way to identify which of the matchmaking servers you’re on so I can include that too…

It really doesn’t matter if you know the server you’re on. Especially if you have the Steam ID. It helps so include it if you know it but don’t prevent yourself from submitting a report if you don’t know the server name.

(Vexed) #8

Yah, it’s a required field in the ticket but I generally just stick something like “EU matchmaking - number unknown” or whatever in there and move on. It’s being read by a human at the end of it all, so as long as it makes sense, it’s all good, right?

(XavienX) #9

Btw, you can actually both right and left click on the player’s username just sayin XD

(immenseWalnut) #10

Is it just me, or is this just a bit too convoluted? What is this, damage control, or the new system (I confess, I don’t bother reporting people, so I have no idea if this is the new one or the old one)?

(Vexed) #11

@ImmenseWalnut This is just advice on how best to use the old report system against the new cheat that has been going around. I won’t go into detail to avoid giving hints to unscrupulous parties, but let’s just say that for one reason or another it requires a little extra information to help pin these people down.

(immenseWalnut) #12

Right, so in that case, this is just passive damage control, not instructions on a new system. Thanks for clearing that up, but I would rather have a new system.

Or at the very fucking least, a removal of the punishment for leaving a comp game. Seriously @Ardez, can you even possibly defend ‘your guys’ for punishing us for leaving a comp match with a hacker, but not punishing the hacker?

And how come that idiot mission was allowed to remain, it is only forcing more casual players into comp mode AND EXPOSING THEM TO MORE HACKERS THAN THEY WOULD MEET IN CASUAL!!! You guys are slaughtering your own game

(modernFountain) #13

AND WHAT ITS MY JOB TO REPORT ALL THE CHEATERS NOW? OR SHOUD I ENJOY GAME?.. ITS NEXONS JOB AND THEY DONT DO IT WELL… AT ALL.

(OneLetter) #14

As stated in the first post, new and updated solutions are being worked on and we hope to have updates in the very near future.

This game will be dead before the anticheat is released if it ever is lol.

Relying on the players to do your job is pisspoor. You’ve had ample time to come out with something even in closed Alpha, these days it should be a top priority as cheating is getting worse and worse as time goes on (ie CSGO). Don’t worry though, keep releasing those mercs…

This company seems to be lackluster and not a clue what they are doing, last time I put faith in them :D.

(Sanedro) #16

oh, embarrassing … where can I see the server name? until now I reported some obvious cheater, but in the field “server name” I allways typed “I dont know”.
Despite this I am sure one of the reported player is banned. Or he just stopped playing.

(MTLMortis) #17

The right click in the scoreboard to report should auto-include the steam profile id as well as submitting a report in game.

I have some questions to moderators/Support workers or even MissMurder here.
For example, I get a hacker in my game. I have his steam profile. I report him. You receive my report, which could look like: “Steam profile: XXXXX, Used aimbot on server XXXXX.”
Can you actually look into the data ocean and see if the guy I named is a hacker or not? Do you have some demo-recording? Or do you trust people and wait when some person receive multiple reports?
How high is the chance of getting a hacker banned with only this information?
And how high is the chance if I provide video material? Like short or longer spectater-mode videos where you actually see the suspect hacking?
And how much evidence do you need to ban a hacker? Is 1 aimbot-snap-on on a head enough evidence? Or some seconds following enemies head through obstacles? Or do you say: “1 isn’t enough, we need like 5, or 20 kills” with obvious aimbot?
