First off, I’d like to thank all of you expert mappers who help out little noobs like us- thanx for all the time. Well, that said, I’d like to tell you about this little map I’m working on. I’m basing it off of real pictures of Omaha Beach, although I am altering it greatly for ease of game play. The problem I came accross of course was tarrain. I know how to use Easy Gen, but I find it frustrating so I decided to make the tarrain myself… I juts made a whole bunch of cubes, put them next to eachother, hit v and then dragged all of the corners to make them look like terrain. If I don’t say so myself it turned out quite well. I made two landing craft which is where the allied spawn is, and added some log ramps as beach defences… defending the beach are two large bunkers. Basicly before the allies can get anywhere they have to blow a huge whole in a cement wall (kinda like in the RTCW map) and then from there move into a little village where they have to blow up two cannons. I just thought I’d share my little idea… i’m sure there are tons of Omaha Beach maps out. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d appreciate it if someone could point me to a good construction tutorial, as I havn’t found one that i can follow yet. Oh, and while I have your attention is there an easy way of making mortor fire landing on the beach automated? (again like in the RTCW version). And also, how do I tell the game where to place the little marker on the loading map of europe? Thanks in advance…

Mortars, Beach Type:
If you are looking at using the same type of effect used in the RTCW map Beach then u need several entitys.
U nead several shooter_mortars targeting info_notnull also set a variance so that they arent that accurate.
Target the shooter_mortars with target_delay and set some wait so that they dont fire all the time.
target the target_delay with a triggler multiple that spans over a large area on the map.
If you want to target more mortars than 1 at a time u should use target_relay so u can fire em off random. The target_relay also has some other usefull thinigs like teamonly settings and so!
Placing the marker:
The marker position is set in the .arena file.
Open up a new notepad document, then save it as .arena instead of .txt!
Place it in /scripts with the same name as your map, “mapname.arena”
Inside you need to set a few things.
