OK.. So i gave brink another try... since everyone here says its a good game

(RumRunner) #21

hmmm if that is the problem… then guess what? there is GASP A SUPPORT AND TECHNICAL HELP sub-forum. ask for help there… who knows you might find out HOW TO FIX IT! rather than waiting to have the fix forced by a patch…

one of my friends was having problems getting things to work… so i looked on the support forums, found a thread about a similar issue… and guess what? it had the fix for the problem IN THE THREAD. so now said friend is playing brink.

as there were no requests for help or anything else here, this thread is perceived as nothing more than unreasonable whining.

and for what it is worth yes i do believe it is perfectly reasonable to expect a game to be playable on release… what is UNREASONABLE is not calling other devs on their screw-ups. again, blops being unplayable for 2 WEEKS after release on the pc, half of the time with the devs there denying there was even a problem. or fallout new vegas. one of the buggiest released games in recent memory. yet it is highly likely that you will go out and buy the next cod with no questions asked, and then complain only a little when things don’t work.

if you blindly accept the problems of an established franchise simply because it is established, when by all rights it SHOULDN’T have those problems… essentially being the same game released every year under a different title… (same engine slightly tweaked mechanics, new “story”, “new” maps), then yes. it is COMPLETELY unreasonable for you to expect a brand-new-ip to be flawless on release.

at this point i am not saying that we should blindly accept games as they’re given to us. i am merely saying that for such expectations of perfection in terms of bugs and the like, that one must be EQUALLY annoyed with ALL bugs in ALL games. for in ignoring the bugs found in one franchise, while calling a new ip on some of its bugs, doesn’t make you observant or a savvy consumer. it merely makes you a hypocrite.

Thanks. I will.

Is this the kind of “you guys are losers because you disagree with me” post the kind of thing that will get you a job later on? No. No it won’t. As it turns out, people will always disagree with you and should just learn to accept it instead of having this monstrously inflated ego about yourself.

Also, you don’t need to double-space everything. You’re not writing a paper.

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #23

People ARE having issues with this game, no one can hide from it or deny it, there are issues.

Some reviewers are not reviewing the game until these issues are resolved as they feel they are unable too in the games current state - Something I have not heard of before.

So yes, people are upset and want to vocalise this on SD’s forum so they might listen, money has parted hands for this game. Calling them names and shouting ‘go back to black ops’ is not helping and just making the community look like sad bigots.

Well for your information i have yet to play Blops, didn’t like CoD:MW so your assumption that i will go out and buy the next CoD the second it comes out is false. I also never stated that i expected a flawless release. In all honesty a flawless release of something as complicated as any peice of software is pretty much impossible.

Before assuming that was unreasonable whining go in the tech support forums and go look at one of the many Ati card posts, more specifically any posts speaking of the 4xxx series of cards. Now i’m sorry if its so wrong to expect a game to work on release day. If it were any other game i would be just as vocal. I do not expect perfection but i do expect it to be playable.

Now don’t get me wrong the OP is saying stupid **** but acting like the game problems are minor is equally stupid.

(SmokeCheeba) #29

I’m not having any performance issues other than the browser being really laggy. Gameplay is fine for me, and when on a good team…this game is actually pretty fun.

Map design could be better, its far to easy to win as defender on some maps just because of chokepoints alone.

If Blizzard and other devs can make a playable game at launch, I don’t see why we shouldn’t expect the same from SDmg. Granted no one is Blizzard, but to have such a messy release is inexcusable. The bug testing/QA team really needs to be reevaluated after all the issues are sorted out. Can’t say how widespread the problems are, but I’ve never bought a game that was unplayable at launch. This is not a good coming-out party for SDmg at all.

And the reviews are fair if the low scores were due to the glitches and bugs. I mean you can’t send out review copies and tell them “wait, the game is not done yet, don’t review it EVEN THOUGH the game is coming out.” I can’t comment much else on the mixed reviews since I can’t even play the game yet. Ridiculous for me to front up $ for a nonfunctional product.

FYI I’m one of those with the ATI card problem, my game launches but won’t stop crashing/freezing. Yes I’ve looked on the forums for solution to no avail.

(Ubliden) #31

for those of you who are defending this game come back in two weeks and tell me that it was worth the sixety bucks

(RumRunner) #32

there are problems, i have not denied this. and i also acknowledged that there were in fact some major bugs (i am one of those using an ati 4870 hd, so i have seen the grids, i have dealt with the grids, and i have found the game to be fun and enjoyable for me irregardless of them)

i am of the view that such things will be fixed, it just takes time. with the vast array of pc hardware it is difficult to get everything optimized properly for them all.

as far as the op goes he is a console gamer, and so is used to everything working flawlessly and expects as much, when all of a sudden they get a game which the console was NOT the primary platform, and there are some bugs they decide to whine.

now when i buy a game i expect it to work, if it doesn’t which can happen even to large studios, i expect them to fix it in a timely manner. perhaps i am a bit more laid back than most people, but i view expecting issues to be fixed the first day to be a bit unreasonable.

based on the fact that SD is a relatively small studio less than 24 hrs is too short of a time to be expecting everything fixed. however, based on what i have seen of the way SD works and interacts with its community, i expect that they will be dutiful in fixing the bugs as fast as they can. from what i’ve seen they are acknowledging that there are in fact problems. other studios would deny the problems or say they are merely isolated incidents. their openness and honesty regarding these things ends up with me giving them a bit more leniency with such things for now. so for now i shall trust that they get such things fixed.

COD has good graphics? You’re a funny guy, aren’t you?

(angeliou) #34

but

why

did you

have to

type

like

this? IT makes

no sense.

(Pizis) #35

I’ll take you seriously when you stop double spacing every sentence.

(throwback8) #36

Tons of online reviewers are telling people to ignore this game? That is why it has 22 positive reviews, 12 mixed, and only 3 negative. Obviously some of the reviews are impacted because they played the game before the day one 360 patch. Also, I have already posted the link to an article that pretty much totally discredits Joystiq, so thats one of the negative reviews gone. That said, I have experienced absolutely NONE of the issues you are complaining about. Sure the graphics aren’t award worthy, but I like the art style of the game. In my opinion it is just plain FUN, which is a rarity these days. Richard Ham even dropped into our party and played a challenge room with us, which I thought was really cool of him to do.

(oO Para oo) #37

Long terms members here don’t mean anything to me they are just geeks who should go back to games workshop and be quiet painting orks. The lag is bad on 360 basically unplayable and why did they release the game EARLY? When clearly there is lots that need fixing…

(tokamak) #38

The complaints are noted and are being worked on. Is there anything else you want?

I’m at my loudest when painting orks.

(Bakewell) #39

I’m a new member and ive joined to be part of the community and enjoy talking about the game.

So far I’ve seen bitching about game faults and arguing about pc vs console.

Even if new members weren’t joining to voice their reservations I would still feel bad about this community because it’s a bicker-fest just like the rest of the wild and dirty Internet. It’s a damn shame because I’m really excited about brink and I had hope the games community would be full of awesome people.

To be fair, all the awesome people may be too busy playing the game so they’re not commenting bit so far all ive seen is hate.

(Dormamu) #40

What no-one is realizing, is that SD really manage to keep them camping more here than in Brink, and to that i say :Good JOB!!!
Go ahead, rage moar here, cuz in Brink you are not welcome
Brother Chen say: - Now …Dance !!! :stroggbanana: :penguin: :stroggtapir:
