Ok, now I'm torn.

(Lozmuir) #1

First of all let me say, I love the game and will love it more when the 360 update fixes the lag.

But I’ve just witnessed Brink on PC at a friends house and what a difference! The graphics are great, the lag is non-existent and is a lot easier to control.

So now I’m torn, I’m usually a FPS PC gamer but this time I felt an urge to give Brink a shot on the 360 which is fun because its something new to learn. I think the lag and low end graphics are getting to me though…

What should I do? Wait for the xbox update? Or trade the game for the PC version?

(Zekariah) #2

Hasn’t the Xbox update come out already?

(Om3ga) #3

PC, PC  Sir, u will come play with gods. And PC have DS.

(KAS--Will) #4

Well… the PC will always be MORE powerful, well… run the game with better quality and what not.

But yeah, the 360 is severely obselete, even John Carmack was admitting how they were going to run Rage at full potential on the 360 and even asked Microsoft to make a separate hard drive so it could run Rage at full potential.

(swifi28) #5

I have the ps3 version and get almost no lag as well. I guess its only the 360

(Om3ga) #6

And PC have VAC.

Yea Ps3 seems to be good 2.
But i guess you don’t have it?

(Zekariah) #7

I’m running my 360, but only lagged on the second day once. That’s why i thought the update had come out already.

(Lozmuir) #8

Its not fixed for me, its playable but I’m assuming the next title update will fix it completely.

I’m sorry but I really cant see how playing an FPS on a console can be enjoyable… mini games with friends, car games, sports games, platform games I’m ok, but a FPS with a controler and aim assist is simply meh in my book :frowning:

Its not a console vs pc war, I’m a big fan of nintendo and old games and shizzle, but I just can’t empathise with someone crying about a FPS not being great on a console, as its pure logic to me

(trigg3r) #10

if your PC can run it and you’re able to trade i’d say go for it.
It’s a FPS, it will always be better on the PC

What are you talking about? The Halo series was FANTASTIC on consoles!

I’m sorry, but they have as much right to gripe as anyone else! I know we can’t expect PC levels of graphics and precision, but the majority of issues that console players have with the game are reasonable.

Another PC gamer who has to get over their superiority complex!

Stop giving PC gamers a bad name!

(Apples) #12

If you read carefully I’m playing both PC and console, just not for the same games that’s all. They can gripe as they payed for the game, but the complaint here is “I want the same game on my console that the one I’ve seen on PC”, do you honestly find that reasonable?

Its like saying, I want my crappy car to run and feel like a ferrari, its just a pointless whine and thats what I was trying to show.

PC players dont have a bad name, at least not in my book! It’s just a fantasy and I place it in the same wagon as the “PC gamer are not the market anymore and the pc market will die in 2 years”.

Peace

Did you play Goldeneye on Nintendo64 at the time ? Yes, FPS can be enjoyable on console, you just have to expect what you should expect from a console FPS. No ultra-fast and ultra precise movement and action, for instance.
Consoles FPS may lack these but usually catches up on some other aspects, be it ambiance and gameplay (Metroid Prime series), or more scripted movie-like action, movement and aim assists, etc…

As for me, I can of course enjoy a FPS on console, but I am so used to the adrenaline burst of fast action and precise aiming of the PC world, that I stick to this platform. Because this is what I am looking for in FPS (except first person half shooter half RPG and the like) : fast, reflexe-like movement and aim, and a lot of freedom of movement without artificial realistic bobbling and so on.

(Bodo_Fraggins) #14

FPS games are incompatible with console controllers … auto-aim … lol ><

hmm yes, I think I will go and eat some soup with a fork

Same here, and no I never enjoyed goldeneye, I played it much with friends with the 4 splitscreen but was just realllly too slow for my taste, thats why I precised that I still cant see how you can enjoy an FPS on console, but the main point was more that the OP expect the same thing on XBOX than on a PC, and thats just impossible to reach, therefore this gripe (hear this thread) is useless IMO.

Peace

It’s true that this thread started on a silly question. Of course the graphics will look better!

But most of us console players are not expecting as good graphics, we are aware of our limitations.

But complaining about the lag is a genuine issue. Other issues like AI, etc are also valid.

And I NEVER said PC gamers had a bad name, i just don’t think console slagging helps your cause.

(Lozmuir) #17

I’ve been playing FPS games on the PC for years and frankly been getting bored of the same thing, I find FPS games on console fun and challenging as I’m used to mouse aiming.

I didn’t start this thread for the old platform wars or even to cry about graphics, I was asking my fellow gamers for advice on what they would do.

I would then say to wait a bit till the prices drop and buy the pc version also, you’ll already get used to the core of the game, and will just need to adapt a bit on the M+KB gameplay (but as you know FPS on pc it wouldnt take that long)

Peace
