Oh please lord SD

With the ranked updates coming out and Nexon seeming to be out of the whole “update cockblocking” picture:

Please god make a decision on how many players are supposed to play on a team

I really don’t care if you choose 5v5 or 6v6 or 7v7 or 50v50 but god just make a decision and make all Objective/Stopwatch games, ranked or not, allow ONLY THAT MANY PLAYERS.

It’s so dumb with Ranked being 5v5 and everything else being 6v6 - 8v8 just CHOOOOOOOSE ONE

Also, I agree. Pick a game size, balance for that and host servers for that, ignore all else. If people want to play on PRIVATE CUSTOM SERVERS with different playercounts, allow that to happen.

Interesting idea.

The whole thing behind adding more players is removing the pressure from newer players. For example in 5v5 the team only has one engineer. If he makes a mistake, and gets gibbed while on defense, nobody will defuse. In 8v8 ther is room for a second engineer, so one of them dying isn’t that bad.

I mostly play 6v6, and that isnot really different from 5v5 as far as I can tell. 8v8 is terrible on most maps though - especially chapel with 3 Skyhammer, 2 Arty and 2 Kira in both teams.

That way they will learn that it is important to protect the engineer. All what 7vs7 and 8vs8 servers do is a mockery of the class and team aspect. Because everybody is just doing his own thing. With 7 others in your team chances are, somebody will do the job needed.

If it were 5vs5, alot of bad habbits that alot of players develop in the beginning and keep til into higher levels would not exist.

And you wouldnt need to learn an almost new game when you enter ranked.

That’s the whole point of pubs though, to play for fun. The problem is Ranked is not getting enough attention by the devs or by the community so it takes too long to match people, and the matches are usually unbalanced as well due to such a small pool of people.

If you guys want Ranked, start playing Ranked more, hell disable everything else for a while and just have Ranked to work on that system, then introduce pubs. Just my take.

No thanks i dont want them to stick to one player size, i enjoy only 8vs8, because i like the chaos and when a teammate is utterly braindead, its still 7vs8 which is doable, 4vs5 on the other hand is much tougher. That said there are many people that dislike 8vs8 and i dont want to force them to play 8vs8. So i hope they keep it like it is now.

@Watsyurdeal You can play for fun in a 5on5 setting. But it has the advantage that it would be a clear path to ranked. I dont say they should close 7vs7 and 8vs8 entirely. But 5vs5 should be the standard for casual too. But this discussion is being lead so many times. No use to rehash it.

Just a final thought, if you look at casual games. How many people are really playing for fun there?

You have the level +20 who screams at the level -10 what a noob he is.
The level +40 screams at the level +20 that he should leave the -10 alone and that he is the biggest noob of all.
And somewhere in the background you hear the competitive player banging his head against his table, because everything is just a chaotic mess.

DB is a competitive shooter. Most people playing it have a competitive mindset to a degree. Even people playing in casual want to win. They just dont want to put the work in to really improving and work on their skills.

When Casual Matchmaking goes live it’ll be 6vs6 only so that decision has already been made, however Ranked will be 5vs5. The reason being is in Casual we’re expecting more players to drop when compared to Ranked play and in a 6vs6 if someone drops it’s much less noticeable than in a 5vs5. This’ll make the quality of casual matches higher whilst still having that competitive feel.

@stayfreshshoe what about latency distribution? Is that factored in CMM or ranked?

(ImSploosh) #10

But 7v7 and 8v8 will still be available via server browser, correct? Just want to make sure because although I enjoy a nice 6v6, I love the chaos of 7v7 and 8v8. I like them all to be honest, but as already mentioned, it’s much easier to continue playing in a 7v7 or 8v8 when a teammate is clueless or even if teammates rage quit.

A very reasonable response!

I personally prefer 6v6 far more than 5v5 but it seems to be one constant and consistent thread that ranked will always be 5v5.
