points at UI hmm

Well, the xp popups have been changed to a small counter of xp under the enemy. At this state it’s quite acceptable.

(abrain) #4

Wow thats looking like a much better built than the e3 one!
I like the xp pop ups/meter way better.

Thread deleted at the request of Zenimax.

That was the first thing I was looking for  Very elegant.

Also, a one-way path with a ramp. Nice, you can do lots of fun stuff with that as a level designer, you can basically make one-way routes for heavies or heavies and mediums hadn’t thought of that yet.

3 second respawn :o
was the stuck point when he vaulted the platform because of smarts timer, or because it was bugged or something?
seemed to stop… then start again.

(engiebenjy) #8

Way better than the e3 version, the blood effect when hit was nice too

(Jamieson) #9

Shooting looks just like call of duty which is a big shame.
3 second respawn :o
It’s spawn waves like ETQW and Wolf ET right? Was probably just 3 seconds away from the next wave.

Is there a health meter or is the red screen the indication of your health? If so looks like etremely rapid health regenration (hid for a minute until red screen went away) or am I seeing things?

The health bar is in the upper left corner.

(maxtalent) #12

What would you prefer it to look like?

More like the style and feel of Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory Quake Wars. In those games it wasn’t just spray and pray, you actually had to be able to aim and know when to use Ironsights. In Brink it looks like unless your firing at someone less than 5m away then ironsights are required.

That style is just boring for me, Everyone in COD would camp with their ironsights and crouch around the map. In ETQW it was fast paced and you were rewarded for using stance + Ironsights properly to combat spread etc.

I think it just looks that way, because the kid playing is constantly using ironsights - probably because he’s used to playing COD. He doesn’t even shoot 1 time without using them, so how can you compare ironsight vs no ironsight?

I actually think those of us who are familiar with RTCW, ET and QW, will have an upper hand in Brink, against those who do not, since we will understand when to use them and when not to, and those gamers who are used to games like BC2 and MW2, will aim down sights every single time, just out of habit.

There was a fair amount of hip shooting in the developer diary vids, but in others the iron sights seem to be used quite a bit for semi-close range shooting. The gamespot article also mentions the need for them.

It looks like they are needed more than they are in ETQW, I’m Ok with that so long as they aren’t required at close range. I think the advantage the players of previous SD games might have is more related to movement: Dodging while firing, strafing around a guy while firing, jumping over him so he can’t track you while you shoot him in the back, etc.

(LyndonL) #16

From memory the last segment/portion of your health bar is regenerative only.

(Seyu) #17

Seems like the red outlines are still there. :frowning:

(Englander) #18

He was just asking for a primed nade up his ass sitting there, or he himself could have primed one quietly and thrown it at them, maybe next time! I’m really hoping from that range there isn’t much spread on the weapon fire, I would be dissapointed if you need ironsights for that range.

I like the CoD system. It feels really clean when you pull up your ironsights and your focus changes. Did you think it was spray and pray in CoD?

I don’t think camping will be a problem at all since you don’t die in two shots and there is no prone but i guess we’ll see. There might be that one guy, but there’s always grenades and you maybe could parkour to a different position and nail him.

(AnthonyDa) #20

About the spray, they are perk which reduces it IIRC.
Yet another slot lost because the default settings are weirdo …
