October update and cfg issue

(avidCow) #1

My custom shooterengine cfg does not work with the new update. Anyone else got this issue? I suppose there’s a setting(s) in there that is no longer allowed, but I don’t know where to begin…

Mine works just fine. What issue are you having with yours?

(treacherousMonorail) #3

I have had the issue before on another patch, but not this one. It can, among other things, be caused by newly added parameters in the CFG file. It can also be caused by uncommon keybinds.

(treacherousMonorail) #4

I fixed it by guessing for the keybinds, removing the old lines and replacing them with the new ones. Then setting the missing stuff in the ingame control panel, saving it out to config again.

(Matuno) #5

Speaking of which, is there a cfg out there with regular updates? I’m getting the feeling that my current cfg is only applied in full sporadically. I’m definitely seeing differences in texture quality every other match.

I dont believe even the unreal engine developers know what is going on inside that code, seeing the lack of documentation and adaptation.

(Nail) #7

documented quite well I thought

But it’s not.

(Nail) #9

what else would you need in documentation ?

(treacherousMonorail) #10

The engine does not already have graphics presets and self disclaimers, showing minimum and maximum performance of the software regardless of hardware. Call it self critique if you will, which is why i almost did not bother posting beyond a basic answer. For it should be obvious.

(avidCow) #11

I get kicked straight to desktop within a minute of starting a match. No error message. If I delete shootengine.cfg and use the default I don’t get CTD. Problem is, even with all the video settings set to low and a screen res of only 1280x960 I get terrible performance compared to my previous cfg.

I tried copying the new cfg version number into my old file and that didn’t work. Also, not sure what shooterengine has to do with bindings?

I dont know, my only experienced issues stem from the shooterinput CFG file though.

You could try and save your CFG files and use mine, hope the download still works when you get around:

I should have linked it earlier, but last time i tried suggesting my CFG they dident care even though it is one of the better. Minus some stuff not done yet, such as reviewing my ingame settings correctly and knowing if AntiAlias is actually on or not. They may hit your performance quite a bit.

That cfg is working well for me. Much appreciated.
