Founders and Obsidian are not the same, the former being a specific case of the latter. SD clearly indicated that the Founders loadouts would not be available again, but there’s nothing to say that the Beta Fighter Obsidian won’t be, or that other Obsidian loadouts won’t get added later on a special occasion for some of the other mercs.

Yeah Obsidian cards will either be VERY far and few in-between (not Founders cards. those are only for Founders) OR it will be a completely different design and also still rare.

Well I was talking more along the lines of changes that aren’t recolors. Like different costumes.

Not any more so than a cobalt or gold card. Founders cards change the actual model but obsidian is just another skin.

Skyhammer’s Obsidian has the best perks and weapons, it is exactly the same as the M92 Elite Rifleman which is used in Comp.

[/quote]That is a FOUNDER card, Skyhammer didn’t have an obsidian Beta Fighter card available to him, notice the text saying Founder, Founder cards look really different, even completely different character models, while Obsidian Beta Fighter cards are the usual models but with a black/grey/red wing design, they have similar red borders, but Founder cards have the Splash Damage logo and the merc is wearing green/orange/white camo, besides the obvious character model change and beta, besides the previously mentioned changes, have a B.
Sorry for the size difference, but notice the designs of a Founder Proxy and Obisidian Beta Fighter Proxy.
As an closed beta player in my opinion there should be an event where closed beta players can get all 5 obsidian beta fighter cards and open beta players at least one.

God1 was even refering to them as Beta Fighter cards, not Obsidian cards, both Founders and Beta Fighter card are marked for obsidian rarity, yes but he was specificly mentioning the Beta Fighter ones.
which I hope could mean that in the near future we might seen more unique obsidian cards for special Splash Damage events, Example Obsidian Halloween event cards and the likes.

it’s too bad 2 out of the 5 founder cards look gross ingame, proxy and sawbonez founders are just gross in game, fraggers and skyhammers look pretty cool though, vaselli looks nice but personally i don’t care for the design

“Obsidian” is the rarity level (basically meaning “only available through special events”), while “Founders” and “Beta Fighter” are the actual card series. Both series look very different, have different loadouts and are not available for all the same mercs (Sky is Founders-only, Arty is BF-only).

I’m just pissed that they wasted unique skins on Beta Fighter cards, and made cobalt into this lame blue recolor, that messes with the team colors.
I like the beta fighter skin, but the card that I got is completely worthless, because of the augments and the weapons.
I know they have a bunch of more interesting skins in storage, but I’m just curious about how they intend to put them in the game.
Personally I could dig it if they had a system, that allowed you to buy and assign special skins to your character, regardless of the card that you use.
Surely they aren’t planning to stack new tiers above cobalt, and eventually require you to trade in 12 diamond cards to unlock a platinum recolor of a merc??
