Obsidian loadout cards???

Well I just learned about obsidian loadout cards after seeing a skyhammer with a mask. Definitely jealous. I saw that its was only available for beta fighters and founders. Is that true? Does that mean that there is no chance we can get one? Even in some kind of event? Please say it ain’t so!?!

Odds are you probably wont get those cards again. But there will be new special cards like the Alienware ones and most likely more from Splash Damage directly.

Founders: No way José, the devs have confirmed that those won’t be available again.

Beta Fighters: There’s been no mention of those being gone forever. Considering their name, I would not rule them out until the game is live, but it’s doubtful after that.

However there’s no reason why other series of Obsidian could not be released for special events in the future.

However there’s no reason why other series of Obsidian could not be released for special events in the future.[/quote]They have said on stream these may not be made available again, instead offering different styles of card (like Alienware, etc.) - I doubt it’s set in stone and it’s been quite a while since I remember hearing them say it. Beta Fighter is as relevant now as it was then - I’d love a chance to get another one I can actually use. :pensive:

one thing needs clarification: not all beta fighters got the obsidian cards. You only received the cards if you played a test map on one weekend. They never announced you would get a card, just help us test a map. There are plenty of closed beta players who did not get obsidian cards because they did not help test the map. I hope that clears it up backlight.

But, I would think it would be nice if they came out with a special beta card for people who have logged in a lot of time playing.

Obsidian tier card titled ‘beta nolifer’ for level 50+ guys would be amazing. >:)

Not exactly how it happened. It was announced ahead of time, and anyone with closed beta access was able to log in and get the case. Link to the actual forum post announcement.

Yes, I’m aware people joined the closed beta after this, but the reward was specifically for people who played over those two weekends. Obsidian loadouts were intended to make a comeback for other special weekends, but as I said in my other post, they may have changed the intention there to be different styles of card, not just using these obsidian ones over again.

They did announce there was a loadout up for grabs ahead of time, though. It’s not that big a deal - just a “thank you” for people who were involved early enough, much as the Alienware cards won’t be around forever.

Just re-read the announcement post.
It’s strange that I got the card as I couldn’t have played during those two weekends due to the region lock. I do remember playing in Nexon launcher alpha/beta and on Steam around the January launch and then getting locked out of the game for the next 3 months that included the Obsidian weekends.

Perhaps just attempting to launch the game was enough to qualify?

Edit:either that, or the date Estonia was removed from the region lock(19th) is incorrect on the forums.

I’m guessing the Beta cards will come back, unfortunately I have a damn Obsidian Arty, fml. So don’t feel bad.

I don’t recall them ever announcing a card backup, but you may be right. I had forsaken log in too (we lan together so it makes stealth c4 plants impossible) and we both got the obsidian fraggers.

I do agree that players in open beta who put in a lot of time and participate in map tests should get some kind of reward that sets them apart. My deepest regret was being dead broke when they were offering founders packages. Oh well.
