objflags - not working?

(G0-Gerbil) #1

I’ve got objflags key / values in my TOI’s for my objectives.
As far as I’m aware, the objflags key is used to let ET know which TOI is associated with which actual objective, so that when you are looking at them in the limbo screen, they pulse.
The values for objflags is binary based on what objective you are refering, right? IE:

objective 1 - objflags = 1
objective 2 - objflags = 2
objective 3 - objflags = 4
objective 4 - objflags = 8

(and binary addition for multiple pulses).

Well, erm, it’s not really happening? What do I be doing wrong good sirs?

I comed to the conclusion that the objflag key doesn’t work when I made my map. I tried a lot of different values for them in the same way you did (binary). But with no effect, but I have noticed that this doesn’t work in any of the maps released with the game either so I think it’s safe to asume it to be broken.

Been there… http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2671&highlight=objflag …Done that

No this is not the same thing, this is not a question about how to use them, more a question about the fact that objflag doesnt work.

Someone please prove me wrong.

Both threads are of the same essence. Gerbil is trying to “crack the code” just like I was. Just because no one has figured out how objflags were designed to work, doesn’t mean that it is broken. Sock used the example of setting objflags to 20, to pulse objectives 3 and 5. That doesn’t sound like a binary system to me. :???:

But if the whole train is wrecked, I wish a SD developer would come out and say so!

Actually a value of 20 is exactly what you’d need to pulse objectives 3 and 5, since objective 3 has a value of 4 from the binary notation and objective 5 has a value of 16 from the binary notation. 16 + 4 = 20.

I’ll check out that thread to see if it has any extra glimpses.
Good point on the official maps, will go see if they pulse in my copy, if they don’t then I’ll just scrap the objflags completely as a non-working feature.

Hmm that thread doesn’t say anything other than what I’d already assumed, so no joy :frowning:

OK went through some of the official maps (fueldump, goldrush and battery) and none of them flash even remotely the correct one, so I’m simply going to assume that objflags don’t work. One less thing to worry about I guess

Just posted it in the editor error / bugs thread, will see if it gets picked up there
