objective taken sound...

(IndyJones) #1

… is there any way to disable it? i would like to play my own instead of this one.

(th0rn3) #2

Overlap it with a blank

(IndyJones) #3

but that will disable it on all maps.

(th0rn3) #4

It’s the only way I know. It wont hurt a lot of maps, because most of them has custom sounds like “We’ve got the first gold crate”

(Flippy) #5

As far as I know all maps play the ‘objective taken’ sound, because it is built in the game. It is not map specific.

In goldrush for example, I am pretty sure the announcer says “Objective Taken! We have taken the first goldcrate!”, etc… This is not one sound file, it’s actually two files. The objective taken is a built in sound and the other is just the announcement sound.

(IndyJones) #6

yeah, that’s why this solution is a bad one…

(stealth6) #7

I don’t think so, even in ctf_face they had the same problem
“objective taken”
“red flag taken”

Indeed, that was a problem when we built ctf_face (we being me and troy) but we never got around it so we just left it as it was…

Yes, thats what I ment “Objective Taken! We have taken the first goldcrate!”. But if you overlap that file it would only be “We have taken the first goldcrate!”. Maybe make a separate pk3

(Flippy) #10

What do you mean exactly by ‘overlapping the file’? It is a file built in-game, just like for example the sound your weapon makes. How are you going to overlap that sound in a map??

(IndyJones) #11

replacing the original wav with blank wav, i guess.

(Flippy) #12

So you can just put a wav file in your pk3 with the same name and location of any standard ET sound, and this will cause it to play YOUR sound instead? I’m just asking I really have no clue, is that how it works?

(IndyJones) #13

yes, but that sound will be played on all maps, not just yours.

(twt_thunder) #14

not so sure about that if you keep it in your map pk3 and not an extra one indyjones… becoz the my weapon sounds would affect some wepons

(kamikazee) #15

I seem to recall that a map pk3 is not loaded all the time if there’s no campaign file in it (which is actually a big no-no). So you might be able to get away with it, but make sure to test!

Also, this will only work if nobody will override the file again.
