Objective indicators (Deliver obj, Push/Stop EV)

So, we have those indicators, or however I should call them, telling us what objective we have to do. I mean them:


But, what I don’t like about them, is that they don’t inform us if EV is repaired or not, if carryables are on the ground or someone’s picked them up. We have big information on the screen, telling us that, I know. But when people are dropping/picking up EMP charges or data cores, text messages are too slow. I also saw people on min lvl 10 servers firing at already destroyed EV.
So, what we need, imo, is a little change to the obj indicators.
EV is destroyed:

This, or just a change in text, for example:
EV destroyed. Instead of “stop the EV”, “Don’t let them repair EV”. Instead of “Escort the EV”, “Repair the EV”, etc.

Another thing is Bridge. We have to destroy/defend two objectives there. So, I think, we need to change this:

That’s also my thought. This should be easy to change.

Another good idea, imo, would also be to show secondary objectives status below. But this should be easy turned on/off*- I’m sure not everyone would be happy with another thing on their screen. But, I must admit that I’m sometimes running to the gate on Trainyard and find it to be closed :slight_smile:

*well, whole HUD should be easy customizable imo, but that is a different story… :wink:

I remember the game saying it won’t spoonfeed us. This thread is basically making the game spoonfeeding us objectives.
Also the delay is an important thing aswell imo. The operators somehow have to see it first and then message use. It’s not an instant process.

I maybe wrote down my point wrong. The thread itself can’t be that obviously, duh.
But the idea in the thread by basically showing every step, when EV is down or not, when an objective is held or down is basically spoonfeeding the players what they could see themself or what they could get from communicating with teammates.

I wasn’t making fun of the way you put it. I really find your point interesting. Considering the fact that all I ask is to make information that is already given to us right now more transparent. Hardly a spoonfeeding.

@Xyfurion Well, yea, I should’ve taken into account what seems small end-user-wise might require lot of stuff for programmers. I think I can take your insight on HUD related stuff without a doubt :smiley:

except the delay is the fault of the game’s UI and not some major idea that the operator should be delayed. For example, if you just return the objective, and someone immediately picks the objective again, the operator will first finish his announcement that the objective is returned before letting us know that it has been captured. Similarly on bridge if one objective is stolen and the second one picked up immediately, you will experience a delay.

You can experience the same with merc vsays, if you request ammo, but your merc is busy bragging about a triple kill, you will first have to wait that out, before your merc makes the ammo call.

Besides, there is absolutely NO reason why the operator should be delayed in a fast pace shooter like this.

@Beryl if the enemy team has to deliver obj and they drop it themselves, the defenders are not informed about this. From the moment attackers pick up the objective, the only time you will be informed about a drop is if it is a result of a kill by one of the defenders. AND you will not be informed if another attacker picks it up again.
