Hi Folks…

i am new in this alpha installed and first play yesterday…but now i have a big problem!

i play the last 10 years online shooter with the numpad keys only!

but this doesnt works in db…is this a config error? i can bind numpad keys and play but when i restart db the keys are blocked…

now i play with w a s d but the feeling is horrible for me…:eek::eek:

Has anyone a solution ?

What do you mean by blocked?
Do they work before you restart?

There is this weird thing that tries to sync keys for you, which more often than not overrides configs and breaks them, try the following workaround to see if it helps:

Click on each bind in turn and press backspace, which will clear it. Then when all are cleared restart the game and check they all are still cleared. Next setup you numkey binds and restart again to see if they are still bound in the menu. And finally test in-game if they work.

My sincere recommendation to fuzzel is to force himself for some time and continue playing on wasd. It only can do good for an fps player. It did for me and for many many more players.

Like the man said, he’s been using other keys for 10 years, hard habit to break…

My problem with WASD is the lack of spacial references in that part of the keyboard. When things get hectic my fingers invariably start dancing away from their position, then I have to “reset” by looking down at the damn thing to place my fingers back where they should. Usually by the time my eyes return to the screen I’m lying in a pool of my own blood…

Some sort of gaming keyboard with removable or more prominent keys could probably fix this tactile problem, but I’ve always been comfortable with arrows + numpad + surrounding function keys. Except of course I can’t play on a laptop to save my life

But more to the point, I have no problem with the keys I bound to the numpad. fzl, any chance it’s a problem with numlock kicking in and out? My binding was all done with the numpad in function mode so the keys register as “kp_end”, “kp_down”, etc… as opposed to 1, 2, 3. I’ve had cases in other games where if numlock had latched on, all my inputs on the numpad were ignored because they were now read as 1, 2, 3, not kp_whatever.

Yeah it is hard but beneficial on the long run. Myself had it for almost 10 years, but I broke the habit.

The accolades are that there are more buttons within the fingers reach (including extra G-keys if you have any), plus the keyboard positon is more place saving (and thus ergonomic) on the PC table.

Niiiice! Just be strong fuzzel! Takes a couple of weeks. But after that we have to be rextremely afraid of you!
