Number of Slots or Merc Rotation

(Chase) #1

With Stoker being confirmed as the new merc coming out, the total number of mercs in Dirty Bomb including unreleased mercs such as eg. Aimee and Thunder is roughly about 20/21. Dont’t quote me on that, I just want to state that there is a “large” number of mercs available to play.

However, you can only pick 3 mercs per game and as I prefer stopwatch games - it can get really stale playing the same 3 mercs and facing opponents with the same merc rotation during both halves. I understand that having 3 slots will oblige players to make “smarter” merc choices for each specific maps as well as prevent mercs imbalance such as 8 skyhammers in a 8v8 chapel game (eg).

So, I’d like to ask the community’s opinions on the 3 merc rotation. Is it too little or is it necessary?
I personally would prefer a merc rotation of 5, but that’s my opinion. Thanks for reading

I would like to say that if you can play a merc correctly you can easily grind the credits to buy it.

Freerotation are already annoying enough when you jump in a party with a majority of newbies playing non trivial classes. I remember the last freerotation with Vassili, 3-4 useless people in a 6v6 team.

I could see a free try system with a try of some hours every x days. With a maximum of y mercs possible to try at the same time that would make the system viable.

The viability formula is :
x / =

Now, with 2 try slots of try of 24h the try CD is less than 7 days. With a 12h try it’s 3day 12h.

@Vaasref my man, I fear that you have misread my entire post. I am talking about being able to play more mercs in a single game, I have already unlocked more than 90% of the mercs available.

Indeed, but the mercs selected for the next game is “squad” not “rotation”.

Hahaha! My bad, I meant squad :> @Vaasref Thanks for the correction

So For the comment of your actual suggestion.

With 5 mercs squad you can have basically everything you need in every situation.
Then what is the point of having a squad why just not being able to pick every merc you have.

But would like to pick 2 card per merc in my squad. That would add versatility without hurting the game meta since you can’t really change your role but buff some traits.
That would for example add a real utility to cards with the “Mechanic” perk.

I would like to be able to have 2 loadouts, then I could use my offensive sawbonez card, but when my teaam needs it, switch to a more supportive one

idk why you only can take 3 mercs if there are 5 classes
