Null Brush

(DaDopeman) #1

Hi im partially new to map making i was searching and wasnt completely able to find what im about to request but if anyone can help me and if there is a thread about it srry but are there any special guidelines or rules i could use to find why i get the SetBrush Null error i understand what it means and everyone but any way to find it manually through using .map in wordpad since u can see the details of everything than search for it on GTK Radiant thx in advance

It means you have an entity w/o brush. Press L and find an entity (which must contain brush) without arrow next to it and delete it

It’s only with entities that recuires a brushmodel eg. script_mover, func_bobbing etc. This also can happen for several other reasons, such as abuse of origins etc. But certainly that is the most common cause, esp. on 1.5.0. There are several tons of topics in the forums, and I’ve answered it like 25 times, so I don’t care to list all those again.

go search for it?
usually there all on the origin (0,0,0) so not that hard to find, but as th0rn3 said just press L theres a list with all your entities then you can search for the trigger w/o brush

Yes that is obvious, tho you can only select or see them from the entity list (L) or manually opening the map file in wordpad, works just as good, tho entitylist has less stuff to view.

sv_brushmodel 0 appears too if you’ve got a func_door_rotating without origin brush (thats where i get it all the time :D) or any other entitie that needs origin but has none

Thx ill search harder next time

actualy if your func_door_rotating doesnt have an origin it opens in a really srange way, but that doesnt show sv_brushmodel NULL error. Atleast for me
