Now that's a lot of upcoming content...

(TheStrangerous) #1
  • Terminal Rework
  • New Castle Map
  • New Merc
  • Major Balance Update

Really SD, I can accept breaking your “6-7 weeks new merc, 'til end of this year” oath, and pack it all up into one major update. Best to be released on Christmas Holidays or New Year’s time.

also just in time for people’s holiday to rake in those monies

Yeah, bring on a major patch a few days before holidays! What could possibly go wrong?

I’m fine just with the new map and the Terminal’s rework(is the worst map for me with Underground) .
About new merc I really don’t care ,there are about 20 mercs but I end playing always the same 4-5.
Balance in a team game with different kinds of mercs? Is impossible, is already fine, well need just a final touch in ranked.

I like Terminal the way it is now :frowning:

I’d rather have more maps than more mercs. Hopefully they’re just rounding out each class of merc by 1 or 2 more and then calling it good. Castle looks awesome from what I’ve seen.

Personally, I think terminal needs tweaking, but not a complete redesign. While in a stopwatch setting, it is technically fair for both teams, it’s still ends in 12 minutes of spawncamping a lot of the time, and that just isn’t fun for either team.
However, I like Terminal. It’s actually one of my favourite maps. It may be defender sided, but I enjoy attacking on it, just because it’s a fun map to play. I’m not excited for the rework, because it seems to be removing a lot of what made terminal unique. They did it with Dome too. I just don’t get why they need to go so overboard. The forward spawn was such a fun area to fight for. Jumping down as a defender into the action was a really cool challenge that you just don’t see elsewhere, so it bugs me that they’re just trying to make it like every other map.

I’m getting sick of maps that support the exact same strategies. Having something different is nice. It’s like how they removed the ninja deliver option for dome. It’s a strategy. If it happened, then the defending team wasn’t paying attention and deserves the loss. But no, you have to shoot your way through like every other map now. Uhg. Sorry for the rant, it just annoys me a lot.

December 22 would be PERFECT for that patch.

I can’t tell if you’re joking, though I’m fine with having a future major update… I’d rather see them keep their words that they gave, and let the content keep flowing in. It’s been a painful bliss of sorts.

@starrysock That’s something I’ve felt is somewhat lacking in DB. It’s not only different objective styles, but ways to approach the objectives. Whatever happened to the huge verticality in maps, the differing approaches to objectives, etc? Honestly, Vault is probably my favorite map just for the second objective (which is brilliant, even if it is an attack your way in variant) while the first and last ones are just pain to attackers. Or pain to defenders that don’t move in correctly…

Dome needed a rework, but not the way they did it. Simple fact was the map was huge, and it was awesome that it was huge, but the way they changed that first objective was… not one that made me happy.

I honestly feel like they shot themselves in the foot, by setting a deadline like this. Maybe it motivates them, but a needless pressure can lead to some rushing…

Of course, development length=/=quality (see Duke Nukem Forever).

Well , I’d like it if they could a version of the current terminal hidden in the game for the time when private servers become a thing.
