Turn all the config settings right and most of the bushes disappear, textures fade and lots of other stuff.

Around a year ago configs were way more unrestricted than they are now.
Back then having a potato config gained you an advantage.
This should be fixed, though.

Pretty sure he just means general shrubbery disappearing, explosives being more visible as there is less clutter on the screen and things of that nature. There is one bush in particular that completely disappears on Chapel (first stage Chapel, above the 90 degree stairwell that heads into the right building for attackers) but other than that I can’t think of anything really.

There are some bushes right before the delivery zone on Trainyard which could be affected as well, though they’re gonna disappear with the Summer Squash update anyway, so…

Yeah I used to think those were visible for everyone so I hid behind them. If you turn geometry detail to low, they all disappear.

Have never played on anything other than Minimal, so not entirely sure where these differences lie. The only one i’m aware of is shown below, though I don’t think any differences would have a major effect on gameplay.

That’s one of two major ones left. They pretty much slowly removed all of the bushes, and they’re going to remove the other ones next patch. You’re correct that it doesn’t have a major effect on gameplay, but people do occasionally hide in them.

In some cases where they remove the bushes, they replace them with better cover and in others, not so much.

So the after shot shows that the wall has been removed as well. Now your pic shows you can see straight thru?

Why is it these settings can affect the game so much? Why have it you can turn it all to min and use it to an advantage. (Pics 1st on list show the tree has no leaves as well - great for seeing right through. - also one must look fkn silly hiding in a bush that the other player isn’t showing - must get a screen of me doing that)

If you going to do a game make it so everyone is seeing the same thing, even if running on min settings. Might as well place boxes around players!

I stated before that they’re removing bushes in the next patch, those are examples of such bushes being removed, since low settings got rid of them anyways. The first image by the bridge in the Trainyard map is a particularly bad offender because there’s actually an invisible wall there that you have to sit on to hide in.

Can you just change the bushes and all types of plants to be visible at all settings?
If you set your settings to low (I don’t remember which setting exactly it was) bushes become invisible. I understand that this is made to improve performance but it also gives you an advantage because you have more sight. I don’t think any video settings should give you an actual advantage ingame

I didn’t even know there was bushes at this spot on chapel, I just wondered why many players didn’t shoot at me when I was in this particular spot. And it was a good spot for vassili too.

Personally I welcome the removal. You never know that might be hiding in those bushes.
