Now after the game is out...

(Schwarzeis) #1

Heyo, everyone!

Now that the game has been out, we all have completed the campaign/all missions for both sides and seen all cutscenes I must write down a couple of things:

What happened to this, Splash Damage? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmKZchM0AiE

The graphics looks better, the surrounding is better, and heck - even the characters interact and look better, they even got other voices and animations than they do now!

Where did the chopper go? Where did the lightning go? Where did the animations and voices go?

And in part 3, what happened to this cutscene? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UWtGCsd_SI

Splash, what made you change the game so drastically from the first videos? Why did you even show us this cutscene and the character interaction that looked so polished if you didn’t even give it to us in the end?

I love this game, and I am in no way ranting of how much it sucks nor that I will return it - but really now… What happened to all that we saw before?

Another example is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt63OGq5G7M&feature=related , what happened to the security-check with the lasers and alerting your enemies?

And there are alot of bugs and glitches in the game now too currently, and I might aswell write some of them down here too:

  • Custom characters not showing up for others, nor can you see other players’ characters, you’ll just end up seeing that light black guy wearing that pimp outfit

  • Lights and Mediums weilding Heavy Weapons? This must be fixed, don’t you think? :o

  • Voice pack not working correctly, when I make a new character with a new vocie it just ends up with my first characters voice

  • Skin not showing properly, I made a black character yet I sometimes end up seeing white arms

  • Cutscene backgrounds are still sometimes muzzled and pixelated

  • Cutscene sound and loading screen sound is so bad it’s not even funny, they’re really low and you can’t hear it sometimes unless you pump up the volume so much that when the game starts your ears will rupture

  • Your character in cutscenes aint showing properly, sometimes I see my main-character instead of the one I’m playing as

  • Sometimes I have the in-game skin of my main character when it’s not that one I’m playing as

  • ‘‘surfing’’ as I remember you guys called it when following a teammate to buff him sometimes makes your character spas like crazy, why is this?

That is all I can think of for now, anyways… Thanks for reading!

This game is great, but it is not what we saw such a long time ago, it’s worse than that. I know you guys over at Splash Damage are trying your hardest to fix BRINK, and I appreciate it  So does many others here I believe

I like the tone of this. Nice post, sir.

(fearlessfox) #3

I’m guessing they had to compromise on a few things so the game could retain things they wanted to retain.

It’s a shame, as that video does make the game look /a lot/ prettier and more interactive.

(Schwarzeis) #4

Thank you, Thombow, I guess? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, it does look prettier, nicer and a whole lot better

I just want to know why it looks like it does now than it did back then - I feel like a spoiled kid saying this :o

(IG THOMBOW) #5

My parents named me Thom.

Do you play on PC or 360?

(SockDog) #6

Would like to turn surfing off, feels really off being dragged off on a tractor beam. If someone is out of range notify me and them.

NOTE: Not really got to the point where I’ve researched this, so if there is a command for this please forgive me.

(PillowTalk) #7

I’m not angry about any of this. I know this happens a lot in the industry, and I’m just glad the game play itself hasn’t appeared to suffer.

But I would like an explanation, Splash Damage. It’s ok. Just show us on the features list where Bethesda touched you.

I play on the 360, Thom :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it short for Thomas?

Lol, nice one, Pillow

Nope, the H is for Hans, my father. I’m dutch which explains the weird names, I guess.

But you should probably add me then, I’m always looking for new people to play with.

(Schwarzeis) #10

Might be weird, but is it possible to request some Splash to get in here?

Indeed, here Brink actually looks stunning, and the reason why i pre ordered. But when i finally got it, everything got horribly pixilized

(fearlessfox) #12

If I don’t look at that video and concentrate on what my system is actually showing me, then Brink is still a decent looking game. It’s no game changer in terms of the technical showiness of its aesthetics, but the style is clean and crisp enough to compliment the gameplay.

And really its the gameplay that matters.

Of course, it would have been nice to have the best of both worlds… but I know I’d rather be playing with the innovation and creativity offered by Brink than the generic standard of Black Ops.

Yes, sure the gameplay is nice and all, so is the graphics, but the textures and graphics could be better / load better, especially in cutscenes

But the thing is what we have now is nowhere near the old videos, and immersion sure is great too, which the old videos showed

All in all… BRINK is good, looked better before and could be better than it is now - they are fixing and mixing with BRINK now, so I forsee some light coming down onto BRINK

(LastMasquerade) #14

I have to say I agree with you Schwarzeis. When I saw those videos for Container City, I kinda wanted to know what happened next. I think I see how they fit into the story, but still. They must have already made those videos, so why aren’t they in the game?

Before it came out I thought Brink was going to be amazing. Havng played it, it’s slightly less than that, but still a phenominal game. Can’t wait for whatever fixes are coming, but I certainly don’t regret pre-ordering this game.

Yeah, those videos looked kick-ass and they made them, so what happened? They scrapped alot of nice stuff we saw before, and I just want to know the reasons… Is it Bethesda?

And yes, I don’t regret pre-ordering it either, this game is incredibly fun playing with friends and with or against real players, I haven’t seen very much of that on the XBOX however… Almost like there is only 10 players playing, with 7 of them playing solo or challenges and the other 3 in their own online matches with BOTS

We need some kind of lobby system or online-player count per mission/side

(MatthiasK75) #16

wow, i would much rather play that game, looks amazing and more story oriented.
but we dont have that one so i will keep playing the brink that gave me happily. wooooooooo

(Al_Kamone) #17

Considering that many people have framerate issues with totally capable machines, i think sd had to either optimize the performance of the engine(probably pushing the release date) or cut down on eye candy.

(v0lky) #18

Im just gonna tell you that saying that the graphics should be way better than they are now is just ridiculous.
Almost everyone are having major issues with their performance right now. There’s no reason they should be more higher than they are now.

(Waldo) #19

Well, the graphics are fine… but the sound… I wanted that kind of audio.

I wonder if it’s possible for SD to include audio profiles similar to how BC2 has hi-def, war tapes, etc? I want the sounds in the trailer, especially the nade explosion sound effect.
