To this day i have not yet completed a map that i am satisfied with, when i look at the quality of work that u guys turn out i feel somewhat second rate…

:???:

You all do amazing things keep it up…

just show ur work … don’t look at what others make , every map is good in it’s own way but some are better balance ( at least thats what i thikn of it )

My 2 cents. You have nothing to lose by showing/sharing your work and everything to gain. I made some progress on a first map, shared it, got it torn up, learned lots, made a new map, got that torn up, learned more, then fixed the problems and turned out an enjoyable map.

Like Iffy said… You are only going to get better if you share your work.

Although, I do agree that some of the stuff people do around here and other places is sometimes nothing less then extraordinary.

I will show my work when i have something to show, at the moment its just a collection of experiments

Experiments are good too. I got started by releasing screenies of prefabs I built. That helped get me some feedback and was a great learning experiences for building vehicles and cones

I just wanted to join the choir of people who says you shouldn’t be afraid to share whatever you produce. And remember that map making is a complex process where you have to master architecture, texture-art, script hacking and playability, and if you make maps that are highly playable but lacks in texture or architectural quality, then people may still wanna play it.

And remember that if you don’t have fun creating your maps, then you’re wasting your time. This is not like a job which someone is forcing you to do, but the comments you get afterwards is like the icing of the cake, where the cake itself is the work you put into it before you release it.
