Note to new medics

(pnellesen) #1

A dead medic revives/heals no-one.

PLEASE try to stay alive out there. I main Sawbonez, and I still have to remind myself of this every few matches. Getting that triple kill or killing spree is definitely fun, but watching your whole team die one-by-one just inches from winning because you just HAD to be the first one into the fight isn’t

(Aazhyd) #2

Yup, I see this on a regular basis. Two guys are bleeding out and the medic just keeps on shooting at the enemy and then dies too.

Or uses his/her Medstation/Medpacks solely for himself/herself

It’s the most painful part of being a medic sometimes. I’m a pretty aggressive player at times, so having to force myself to hold back and wait (and wait, and wait…) for my team to push is hard work!

Any fresh medics will absolutely understand how vital you are to the team when you hit the objective room and revive 3 of your team, who then clear out the objective and win the game.

I feel you.

Another note (to people NOT playing medics) - your medic cannot be in 2 places at once. If you’re downed on the side of the map away from me, nowhere near the objective, playing TDM, and another player who’s been pushing and repairing and escorting is downed, guess who’s going to be rezzed first? Don’t blame your medic for not being your personal healbot…

YES!
This exactly. I find it frustrating when i’m way far away, and you’re dead somewhere yelling Medic, and when you die, going “MEDIC YOU -insertnotnicewordhere-”
I’m not blowing my cover just so i can run over half the map to revive you, i have the proxies to rez when they’re actually DOING the objectives.

Be mindful. Communication is always key

I just like to use the mantra “Team>You” to play medic. Of course, running around being stupid trying to rez people then have both of you dying isn’t very ideal.

(pnellesen) #9

To be honest, I do this ENTIRELY too much, lol. Trying to be the hero only to look like an idiot when I run into a room with 2 Rhinos and an Aura to try and revive our Proxy…

(LANshark) #10

As a proxy main i understand. This is what I have learned about playing with/against medics up to this point.
[] Only ask to be revived if you have a medic within sight of you (if the medic is sparks) or within a few seconds of you with minimal exposure to enemy fire, otherwise they will usually get themselves killed or you will be gibed before then.
[
] Almost never ask for a rez in chat, the medics have a symbol above you when you are downed and a quick v-2-1 will alert them if they are blind.
[] When playing aggressively and/or stupidly don’t expect a medic to save you (and don’t attack when you have long spawn).
[
] If the enemy team has a lot of medics focus them first and always remember to gib.
Anything I missed?

(Yahiko94) #11

I hate it aswell if Aura and Sparks try to rush and get killed. But most people dont know that supporters have to stay in the background.

Just a thought, but what about increasing the support xp. Would make most players to use these mercs properly.

(Yak) #12

Another thing- If an ally went to flank them and attack from behind (like a phantom), DON’T rez them. They’re behind enemy lines and not worth your death.

Cannot Stress this one enough. ALWAYS finish off your kills and others if you can. I know if you die a second after getting a kill you cant always finish em off. But try, for Odin’s sake try.

(ludicrousBlast) #14

I just have to say this, but one time on a minimum level 10 server I was downed by a phantom out of spawn who was then killed by my team. I was generally more forward so TWO medics could see me. They both ran literally right over my dead body without even stopping to think if they should revive me, forcing me to wait another 20 seconds that I could have used to help defend the last objective. This just bugs me. If you are not going to heal, don’t play medic. There are mercs who are way better at direct combat then Aura and Sawbonez.

(VincentRJaeger) #15

As @ludicrousBlast pointed out: If you are a medic, your whole job is to revive and heal your team.

I had an Aura-player stand on me while I was incapped. Stand on me. Looking down at my eyes as I was writhing in pain!
That player then ran away, without reviving me.

Just make sure your in a higher level, so stupid kids won’t be doing that to you.

Btw:That kind of medics always are hitting teammates in the feels and rage meters.

(squiid) #18

I love watching Spark players doing nothing, you don’t even need to go out in the open to get them, they are literally camping behind a corner, not getting shot and there’s 3 dead players in the open infront of them.

I guess they just want the quest for “Earn 12,000 total XP with Sparks”. Yeah, you also get XP for reviving

(MarsRover) #19

I like to call Aura a “schrodinger’s medic” - you won’t know if she’ll revive until the match starts. It’s much less common with the other two non free medics.

You know what would help? Instead of hearing the same mission briefing over and over, new players should watch an excerpt from the “role-call” video for one of the mercs in their squad.

(Blackheart) #20

Something not mentioned in the tutorial (that should be) is charging your Defibs. Not only does this revive allies with more health but also very slightly increases the Defibs’ range.

And Sawbones, if you can, throw a Med Kit at your patient as they get up whenever possible - they are a perfect, stationary target for a second.
