Not a Rant, a reminder

I think this following issue has to be addressed. I have been monitoring the steam charts for quite a while now. And the decrease in average players is insane. This year the game started with an average player base of 2600 players. And now, its only 1650. The real decrease started after april. From there, the average player base kept dropping. Insanely. Its now at 1650. My assumption. It will keep dropping. Now, there are several reasons for that and devs should know. Dont expect a official release to solve it.

Reason I say this is because I dont want the game to die. Seriously. I dont. If it does, I die with it. But cmon. Its pretty serious and it seems that we arent getting news, or any sort of updates. Talk to us DEVS. Please.

the devs already know about this do to the amount of fear mongers making posts exactly like this. the fact of the matter is there are people that will stick with this game regardless and there is always a influx of players when events happen so it shouldnt be a problem but at the moment it seems that SD are really trying to sort the annoying gripes people have with the game before they have another event and i cant blame them it makes alot of sense and shows they care

This game need advertising, wouldnt be a bad idea to pay some big numbers youtubers to advertise the game via gameplay or reviews, im sad because people prefer to play stupid games instead of this true free to play gem

It makes me sad when real life friends who have always been hardcore FPS fans their entire lives who loved Dirty Bomb to pieces just stopped playing it cold turkey for seemingly no reason. Some of them are only level 20 in Dirty Bomb, but loved every second they spent playing the game, speak highly of the game and love the physics/mechanics more than any game they’ve played.

Yet these same people are level 350-500 on Overwatch and complain every day that Overwatch is crap.

Their mentality I will never understand. They love DB and refuse to play it because numbers are low, yet they play Overwatch non-stop like it’s their duty. They hate everything about the game, but play it every day.

Sheep I tell you.

friends don’t let friends become overweiners

What’s really strange is how they seem to be getting the message about communication and yet still manage to communicate very little. The summer squash has pretty much been “PLEASE STAND BY” for the last few months, waiting with anticipation for some bug fixes because that’s the only thing we’ve got to look forward to, and with that outlook can you blame people for going elsewhere?

A game that’s in beta (in development) needs to be moving forward, and it has barely moved anywhere new since the trading system changes, which in most player’s eyes was a step backwards anyway.

I believe it’s just basic fear Dox. Fear to commit to something that appears to have a high chance of failing. A lot of people have that problem with relationships I think. They become so afraid of what might be they become unable to act even if they love it to pieces. Then they regret being afraid. Think about why they are afraid. Then the cycle repeats. that’s just my thought on it. I obviously don’t know your friends better than you do, but I have my own experiences.
fear mongering whether to yourself or others often leads to pain and regret form what I have seen and experienced.

(Dagasawr) #7

they have done that before and it didnt go amazingly but i think they dont want to advertise it again untill the game is stable and has enough content.

(Brycko) #8

I feel you @Dox you’re right @Daga and @satisfyingMarriage they’ve done that before, it kinda worked.

There’s always going to be a falling player count. Other games come out that are NEW and FLASHY, and that’s going to drag player away, and before they know it there’s gonna be another game to pull them away again. Its the same for pretty much every game on steam, minus the really big titles like DOTA 2.

Comparably, the falling player rate of DB is really nothing in comparison to some Triple A titles and other popular games released on steam. It’s really not as bad as it looks.

Just keep faith. (This is old news but deserves repeat) Warframe had exactly the same problem when it was released, if not worse so, but with time (like, 7 years) it grew into one of the most played on steam. Ditto for CounterStrike.

Be persistent and stick with DB. It’s got a really solid core and a good reputation, and to be honest, the best advertising isn’t done by the developers, its done by the people that play the games. I didn’t here of League of Legends or CS:GO or TF2 from the developers, but from people who really loved the game. Keep playing DB and keep recommending it to friends. Keep spreading the word and be patient. The players will come.

I guess most people are just sick and tired of playing the same old maps, over and over and over and over.

All of my m8’s who played this game have moved on, nobody plays it anymore.

I haven’t logged in for about a month now, and probably won’t for a while. Honestly I don’t know what they could do to change that either.

It’s a pity, I’ve built up one hell of a collection over the past 16 odd months. If and when trading comes out, I’ll have some special gifts for some of the more deserving people on here, that’s for sure.

steam charts dont mean shit man. its a good reference but they system has hiccups and doesnt register a player in game before like 5 to 10 minutes. plus if all you are worried about is player count play cs go. id rather face a rank 100 player in this game then play cs go. also we are a much tighter nit community and id rather be here then any place else.

whats the saying. ya too much of one thing is bad but learning is never bad. shame they never took the time to learn more then the hater side of dirty bomb.

(Mc1412013) #12

I think they said a few times that they will start all that when the game is ready for full non beta release if that ever happens

Still ill be playing to the end. maybe not as much as i do now, but i dont see myself ever quiting

(Madonna_) #13

People are still playing wolf et over over and over the same 10/12 maps even after 13 years, i am amazed how some people can be so passionate, go on trackbase.com and you will see how many clans and players are playing on a daily base, i want the same feeling to glare around db scene…

(Dagasawr) #14

exactly but those sort of players dont come from nexon advertising (that sort of player base is built up over time by just hearing about it from the grape vine)

Steam charts is literally the worst.
have some advanced graph technology

https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/

A lot of people who play/see DB actually enjoy it a lot, the biggest problem is just player retention, and that is a problem for any team based fps like DB. I dunno, I feel like once the preformance updates happen, turtle and dockyard get released, they should be ready for release and a lot of people will come back to at least take a look.

The biggest thing is that they are not putting a lot of advertising out there, but they are starting to rebuild a presence like at egx:

@WolfDarkrose Hey man, I was about to read ur comment but ur ignorance kinda ruined it. Steam charts dont mean sh*&? Did you seriouslly just say that? lol. I have a bad habit of just taking things too far so ill let you reflect upon ur comment. Data is data, unless you got a better one, dont trash it.

And I remeber playing with you. level 9 huh

(deftMoon) #18

Exactly what @blonk said.

Did you ask why they stopped playing?

Because when I asked my friends the answers were obvious and there were many:
bursts, shotguns, spam, pubs suck, ranked sucks or doesn’t work or have limited people in it, spawntime problems, maps (too few or basically just 2 solid maps (chapel and bridge), constanst weapon balance changes that don’t make sense, old and new bugs, bad performance etc.

Example one of my ex csgo buddies couldn’t stand the one shot abilities of this game, period. He was and is very, let’s say “aiming oriented” and he couldn’t live with the shotguns in this game. Also Nader which I played a lot but that’s different story…
It was IMPOSSIBLE to explain to him that why he first gets Ace just having good aim and then some nooby proxy/aura runs at him around the corner and without any notice just blasts him to death in one go.
I even defended shotguns at some point saying that they don’t work so well on distance (but I was wrong since currently you can even spam example remburg from some distance) and that these mercs require some kind of defence and I thought they would be changed at some point.
They weren’t changed and I’m done defending.

You should ask your friends and then figure out what went actually wrong.
Many of mine eturned to other games or just went play some new ones (even OW yes because it at least is ready and is very team oriented).
Also players just don’t play FPS games so every game imaginable will take away from DB player base if it doesn’t “win the competition” in the players’ minds about time they use to play it.

After start of 2016 which meant that updates dropped to almost zero I got laughed at when I mentioned this game. Oh, yeah, there was this event, Rogue en Vogue and let me tell you what merc won being the most popular merc…and matchmaking have been in the works for long time.

Just one buddy kept trying to play this and just lately uninstalled the whole thing.
Sheep? Maybe, but it’s their choice and can’t really blame them since I can see all those reasons.

my friends just went to overwatch and never come back, even tho the meta right there is tanker and they just nerf everything that isnt tanker.
even bastion arent as good its used to because the devs in OW needs to consider kids-

“Feelings”

the trend in gaming right now is to prevent kiddies from being offended
(because they cant play for sh8 and kept raging when they die)

so they kept defending these kiddies and they get a good amount of playerbase.
