Noobie playlist

Just a suggestion, but I believe instead of rank restrictions there should be a noobie playlist (ala COD) where new players can choose to play if they do not wish to play with higher ranked players. This way the community would not be divided into ranking groups, since the lower ranked games are severely under-populated.

As I’ve said, this is merely a suggestion, what do you guys think?

How do you define yourself as a noobie without rank?
If you do it on trust then people will come in for a warm-up pub-stomp.
I think the ranking way works fine. If you’re not new to the game (second / third char) then you can select “my rank or higher”. If you are new to the game then you’ll want to be seperated even if it’s low population. You still learn the skills and only play against bots with a similar skill level (they level up in abilities based on the rank of the server).

I was thinking up to lvl 5 you could join the noobie playlist, after that it would be locked.

Also, the “My Rank or Higher” option seems to not fuction correctly since I find full games with my lvl 20 char. and empty games with my lvl 9. I play during peak hours.

Once the level cap is raised to 24 I see less of a problem joining games. Because it pushes the average rank closer to 4 or 5 overall.

Good point, however I hope your point is valid, otherwise new players will be continually confronted with lightly populated games which my discourage them to play the game.

Why even bother keeping it broken up at all. With any character you can perform all essential functions needed to win the round.

I personally prefer to utilize a BF2 2142 method of when I create a new character or pick up the game for the first time I just go find a populated server and join to start gaining XP so I can buy abilities. Play hard and extremely well for 5-10 matches and I can be a level 10 rank 3.

There is some benefit of having the unlocked abilities vs not having them, but it takes such little time to level your characters that it is pointless to lock yourself out of matches because you feel your rank is not high enough to compete with others. You miss out on game experiences, and seeing how others may manipulate a particular ability or class to benefit a team. Plus if you do stay out of higher ranked games by the time you get around to joining higher ranked games your going to be to used to playing against mostly bots that frustration is bound to occur in a high ranked game followed by many rage quits.

Thing is that you can reach level 20 in like 2 or 3 days and brink isn´t that big to have populated servers with players with level 5 or so.
