Just do selection->rotate or use on of the rotate/flip buttons on the toolbar. These will rotate the selection 90 degrees on the specified axis. Ther’s also an arbitrary rotate option under selection->rotate but I don’t recomend using it cause a lot of times it deforms your brushes and it screws up your geometry.

only use the rotate at your own risk, but if you need to rotate a model you cannot rotate with them tools, you need to go into the entity window and select the angle, just incase the prefab has models

there is another method, the free rotation button on the toolbar, next to free scaling but those are tricky to use as they are mouse driven, so probably best to try arbitrary rotate first.

also if you do arbitrary or free rotate on any brushes then use snap to grid to realign any off grid vertices, but save your work before rotating or snap to grid as they can produce undesirable results.

the only arbitrary rotate values I tend to use is 45 or 22.5 degrees which are the safer then more “random” rotations.

also I usually set the grid size to 1 unit before using either of these methods of rotation, but you may want to set the grid to 4 or 8 if your rotating a large brush.

edit: it`s always a good idea to use the brush cleanup toolbar button after deforming our brushes, even if they look fine.
