Noob Phobia

(Zita) #1

Thread after thread shout about Noobs not knowing how to play the game, Why am I teamed up with people who can’t play, give us high tier servers so I don’t have to play with Noobs, ECT ECT ECT.

The Dev’s are trying to come up with ways to help you out with this, as you are intitled to play with players with same skill as you.

But there is one thing missing out of these threads, YOU the perfect player, the player who knows when to drop med packs. give out ammo, and how to position yourself proply. YOU are the one who might be able to get the noob to understand why, where and how. Give them the opportunity to learn.

Match after Match I see people complain about one or more person/s in the server. This is not a good example to the noobs, all they see is a stuck up communitity, who only care about there own W/L ratio or K/D ratio.

You have a coms system in game, use it(and I don’t mean shout at them), tell the player who’s not dropping ammo to drop some, if you see a player who keeps rushing in to set C4 and dieing, tell them to group up 1st and you all go together.

If your team is all made up of one type of merc, ask over the coms nicely that if they are going to win some will need to swap to a different type of merc, you be surprised how many will listen and change merc’s.

I know some of you don’t want to play with these players and that is fine. Go and make some friends in game and make up groups to play with, if you don’t then you will end up playing with noobs. But if you find yourself in a server full of noobs teach them, tell them whats expected of the merc they are playing, Yes you will get the ones that don’t care or won’t listen, but there is not much you can do about it, execept get yourself all frustrated and worked up.

The only way a noob will get better is by experance, mainly your experance, share your experance with them, maybe next time you see them in a match you might be surprised by how much they have learnt.

I know this works because I come from Quake Live where we had a similar problem, but people started to help the noobs. Guess what they learnt, they tried harder because they was given advice, it makes them feel as if they can make a differance in a team. I now belong to a Clan that is for Noobs only where they can join in and learn, once they know how to play they go off and join new clans with the new knowledge they learnt, QL how has more experanced players cause of this.

So plaese give Noobs a brake we where all Noobs once.

TLDR: Tell noobs where they are going wrong, explain things to them, if you dont want to play with noobs make friends in game and group up and dont use the quick join.

The bigger problem is those that don’t seem to want any help. They play the game with sound off, and don’t listen for calls for health packs, or ammo packs. The voice commands don’t help any with these players either.

I’ve literally said in chat if they need any help to just ask and I’ll help with what I can

Agreed. It’s very annoying when a medic just runs past you when you’re down and dying BUT if you ask them (mic helps) to come back and revive 9/10 they do. Ask politely, say their username so they know they are talking to them and BAM - they’ve got the idea.

Same thing goes for backup when planting defusing. Just ask nicely, be polite and most of all encourage people. No one likes being bitched and shouted at!

I don’t think anyone is scared of noobs, just frustrated with them.

(Zita) #5

We can help get rid of that frustration by talking to them.

@maroonGopher Very true, they are the people you never get through too not much you can do about it, except try not to get yourself all worked up about it

It’d be nice to group together and try and teach new players the game, but some people just do not want to learn, and any attempt to tell them how to play is met with insults. Very frustrating.

It’s different in Quake, the only people that still come to Quake are people dedicated to actually learning the game. They have to be, or they’ll just get run over so hard they literally can’t play at all.

i am going to click the agree on this but there comes the part where people just either dont understand english (this is a huge problem in the asian servers), flat out refuse to do it cauz they rather go for the kill and die a pathetic death rushing out into 3 people as an aura instead of dropping ammo or picking someone up with defibs or just plopping support stuff down ONLY when they need healing/ammo etc… personally i play on Asia servers and somehow almost 75% of the players dont even respond to calls over voice comms even when u specify the name of said player… and of course there are the idiots who just flat out refuse to drop ammo/health cauz its in their nature to be douchebags… in ASIA pay to win and selfishness in FPS games comes second nature in most countries I have played Europe and US pub servers and for the most part when u ask over voice comms I dont even have to specify a name and people would just skip on over to you and drop what u need usually more than necessary… some how western players seem to be more willing to coordinate pushes and defensive holds compared to Asians but then again its possible people just turn off voice comms due to the retard nature of 5year old screaming over voice comms in other FPS games and most dont even look at the text chat due to the IQ reducing venom in most FPS games we have

Would be nice if the communitity got a noob group together, but you are correct there are player that don’t want or will refuse help, but not much you can do about it.

TBH I dont think quake will be any different from DB it’s the communitity that will make people stay or leave, this will become more apparent once the comp side of the DB takes off.

These are just my thoughts I could be wrong, but I like to be optimistic

Well optimism isn’t a bad thing.
