Noob here

Searched around a bit, and I didn’t really find proper answers.

While the whole game is confusing a bit, my only worry are the weapons. I don’t feel like going through EVERY single weapon available, so I’ll just ask what weapons are regarded bad and good. Since it seems another no-recoil game, don’t talk about that. It’s easy to manage.

Also, why do some SMGs have a LOT more damage compared to ARs? -.-

I regret to say you’re right. Get the Carb. If you’re medium then get the Carb and the Lobster or the Rockstedi. And if you’re heavy, don’t be a heavy.

Just about every weapon in the game is good for pub play. Including the heavy weapons. Heavies are good in pubs, ever since the first weapon update. Unless you are playing in a clan match, then you can do well with any gun.
The only gun I would avoid is the FRKN, but you can do well with that if you have really good aim.

Every pistol is good. My preference is the Kalt and Sea Eagle.

Both light rifles are fine, but you probably want to go with the Drognav unless you can get headshots. Sniper rifles are usually just for specific objectives, such as defending the bridge objective on Resort.

Since the beginning the Carb has had the best balance of close and medium range.
The Kross probably equals the Carb now after the most recent weapon patch. Hard to tell.
Galactic is more weighted towards medium range, but a good balanced SMG. Its better on consoles than on PC now, since it got screwed up in the recent PC update.
Bulpdaun is for aiming down sights. It kills faster than any SMG, but it restricts your mobility. And extremely long reload which is easy to cancel too early. (Very frustrating.)
Tampa dominates at close range, but can’t be used for medium.

Gerund dominates at long range.
Euston kills very fast at close and medium range.
Rhett is kind of an all-around gun. Used to be great, and now is just decent.
Rokstedi is probably the fastest killer at medium range.
FRKN-3K requires great aim, but it can kill very fast. But if you can’t get two headshots in a row, then it isn’t ideal at any range.
Lobster has its own unique role
Mossington is great for Heavies…Doesn’t feel very good for Mediums.

EZ-Nade is the one gun, aside from the light rifle in some situations, that can force the other team to have to adapt to it. It can win you a lot of rounds.
Maximus and Chinzor are both very effective in chaos. Not so much in 1v1 head to head duels.
Gotlung has specific uses on certain objectives.
Hjammerdeim is good weapon for chaotic, tight-quarters objectives.

Carb/Kross + Ritchie/Seagle seems best if you want to be a meta-whore. My personal preference is Carb/Ritchie.

(Spendlove) #5

Personally I dislike all of the medium weapons except for the Lobster which I find amazingly useful.

For my light operative I have Kross and Belgo.

Heavy uses whatever main gun fits the needs of the mission/opposition (I think all the heavy weapons are “just right”) backed up with a Euston with a ton of ammo and nade launcher.

I used to love the Galactic SMG but since the patch it seems to be weakened.

bah…think real answer is just finding the gun and attachments that suit your game/your game in certain situations. For me i love the rhett, evil gun, but the gerrund with greeneye scope, front grip ar drums is one of the nastiest guns you’ll come across when fighting over med-long range perfect accuracy/range/RoF

secondary i go either bulpa or cross

your question: "Also, why do some SMGs have a LOT more damage compared to ARs? -.- "

SMG do immense damage at close range but dont have great/effective range, this is where the AR’s kick in

Technically the Tampa kills fastest, with both the highest damage per shot and damage per second ratings among SMGs. Was using it on my medium soldier last night.

Gerund dominates at long range.

If you tap shot with an assault rifle at long range, which is your best option aside from using a light rifle, the Rokstedi wins with the highest damage per shot among assault rifles.

Rokstedi is probably the fastest killer at medium range.

I wish. Statistically the Euston dominates everything at medium range, assuming most to all shots land. With good and random body movement along with well-paced shots, the Rokstedi is a very tough one to overcome at medium range though.

That’s what amazes me about this game is each persons own play style works and there really is no inferior guns. I am amazed that the Lobster actually works for some one. I get killed while trying to figure it out but I’m glad he’s good with it.

BRINK is / was truly amazing in my opinion its sad that so many critics just don’t get it.

But the Tampa kills very slow outside of close range though. I guess I should have said that the Bulpdaun kills fastest among SMGs at medium range (and long range). (But you die faster too since you need to sight up with it. It does perform decently with hipfire, which is good for flexibility, even if it isn’t ideal.) If the target isn’t moving too much, you could kill as fast as a Tampa at close range by headshotting…(Which a Tampa is unable to do.)

I always felt the Gerund could kill faster more reliabily at long range than the Rokstedi… I feel like there is a certain dropoff where the Rokstedi takes a little too long to kill…or where it is a little less reliable. At medium range though, I feel like a Rokstedi with rapid fire and muzzle break pretty much instant kills everything. But again, its hard to really tell if it is better than the Euston or not, since it also instant kills any target that isn’t moving horizontally.

Basically best combo would be AR+SMG, right?
I’m too lazy to try out every gun, especially they don’t seem to have major differences between them anyway. Plus I don’t play brink very much

(tangoliber) #12

Most people would say that playing as a light, using the Carb or Kross with the Sea Eagle or Ritchie is the best combo. But the point is that just about every gun can be good, as most all of them are good at certain things.

(The Ranger) #13

What i seen in brink is more about playstyle and personal tactics preference , its not about weapon damage levels. Every brink character us unique just like the players style and personal opinnion . Brink is like tgat canvas that actually lets you use your creativity in the gane. Were all human here , and this isnt call of duty lol

(The Ranger) #14

Sorry guys im on the itouch , bare with my mispells

(Humate) #15

Dont worry about the weapons.
Just unlock nade shooting.
Spray, throw nade, spray.
Rinse repeat.
