Non ET-Mods

Hi,

I wasn’t sure if I should post this thread.
So if it’s wrong at all please close this thread.
I’ve found some interesting looking mods:

  • [li]1936
[/li]A mod for “Medal of Honor” placed in the Spanish Civil War
    [li]Battlefield 1918
[/li]A mod for “Battlefield1942” placed in the World War 1.
(German web site with an english news section)
    [li]Price of Peace
[/li]A mod for “Call of Duty” which will contain classes.
    [li]Deathball
[/li]A mod for “Unreal Tournament 2003”. Bombing run without weapons (almost).

I was waiting for the Russian Front mod (for RtCW). But I think they canceled it. They had planed lots of new weapons, vehicles and a whole new single player campaign.

You know what I’m missing? The kind of fast-paced games we had some years before. You know, Action Quake 2 and the like… Today, all we get seems to be slow-paced realism shooters. ET is one of the faster ones, that’s why I like it… But the limit on strafe jumps isn’t all that exciting either and you don’t hit shit while jumping. I wonder if this is just a trend of if most people really don’t like fast games… I’m currently working on a little mod that will probably be extremely fast, but I wonder if it even makes sense to make it public one day. Aren’t there more people out there who think that rocket jumping through a map at 300 mph is not lame? And does every second mod these days really need to have a historical war theme? What’s up with all that hype about war anyway… Last time I checked, real war actually sucked. Hard.
Where is the creativity?

Yes! I’m going to have some kind of “Quake Mode” too - no limits on jumps, bigger PF mag and clips of 4, no fire delay, bigger (self)knockback, less selfdamage (only for PF), everybody starts with SMG, PF, flamer, nades, TNT and pliers… change falling damage, add armour, allow firing when prone and underwater, that kind of stuff

  • [li]The Battlegrounds
[/li]A mod for Half-Life placed at the revolutionary war (think it’s the american independance war but isn’t mentioned on the web-side).

Science and Industry is a teamplay mod for Half-Life, in which players assume the role of Security Officer in one of two rival corporations striving for domination in the cutthroat world of chemical and weapons research and development.

As security officer, it is your job to acquire and protect your company’s most valuable human resources – scientists. Scientists conduct research and develop new products, bringing your company profit. Conveniently, the products your company’s scientists develop take the form of new weapons that you and your fellow security officers can use to pound the other company into submission.

Your company needn’t be happy just letting it’s small staff of scientists toil away at new developments when there are plenty more scientist resources ripe for the picking at the competition. Stealing scientists from your rivals is a great way to boost productivity and keep those new weapons coming, but of course your competition has the same tactics in mind. So defending your company’s scientists is just as important as “finding” new ones. Of course, the vagaries of particle physics are difficult to ponder in the middle of a firefight, so if you expect your scientists to be productive, you’d better keep the fight as far from them as possible.

  • [li]Eastern Front
[/li]A mod for “Call of Duty” placed in WWII which also will contain classes.

(nUllSkillZ) #11

I’ve just spectated a little bit Dystopia (HL2:Source).
Very interesting and good mod idea.
Two teams battle against in two worlds.
In the “real” world and in cyberspace.

Two HL2:Source mods that mix RTS with FPS:
Empires
Nuclear Dawn

Another one:
Science and Industry 2

(Jaquboss) #13

just wondering who cares…
I personaly don’t, sorry…

(nUllSkillZ) #14

I don’t mind if you care or not.
As long as I’ve fun posting.

I try to give an overview of mods which I come across which have a class-based and / or an innovative* gameplay.

  • A gameplay that I haven’t seen before.
So these mods might not be innovative at all.

I find it interesting that PoP has gone from Cod to ET to HL2 without ever producing anything usable in over 2 years

(thefatladysings) #16

This time not innovative in game play.
An artistic mod for UT2004 (like a black and white silent film):
Hollow Moon
